I have a personal loan with £2500 left to pay at 8.5%.Can I use this card to pay off the loan?My loan company tells me you can't pay off Credit with Credit.
If this is so how come we can do Balance Transfers between Credit Cards?

Does anyone know if I can use this offer to transfer a balance to a current account, and if so are there any additional charges?

I've just been into a branch today to apply for this card & the application form offers you the chance to have a cash advance to move money to your current account - DO NOT DO THIS!!!! a cash advance will incur a fee & I don't know if it will be a different interest rate as normally it is with a cash advance.

I couldn't see anywhere on the application or the leaflet that you could do an SBT using the new Barclaycard 0% 13 months offer. Even the member of staff who was dealing with me didn't know if you could or not.

So for me it will be: wait for my BC to be approved & find out the credit limit, then instruct MBNA platinum card to move as close to £5k as I can get (dependent upon BC limit offered) then do a balance transfer to pay off the MBNA card from the BC thereby moving it onto 0% :) My ING account will then look after the money until I need it to pay off the balance just before the 0% period ends.

When I called MBNA this morning they looked at my account & told me there would be no fee (YAY!) to move money to my current account & I would be allowed to move 98% of my current limit which means as long as BC give me a decent limit I can make the most of the £5k ;D

Just a note to others: when I applied in the branch this morning she did say that they are really really busy (I wonder why... ;) ), so I may not hear until around 3 weeks time!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

Just a quick small print detail.
if you are a footy fan, choosing the "premiership" card design enters your name for tickets to a premiership game(s) next season but as usual with our banking buddies you are paying for the tickets.
Why because the minimum repayment rate goes up from 2% on the "Platinum" design to 3% on the Premiership design.
If you don't like football, don't choose the premiership design.
Great site Martin thanks fo rsaving me lot's of money !!

I did not want to open this on line and all the phone numbers listed for Barclaycard require you to key in your account number including the one given to open a new card on the phone. >:( However, the 0800 9177 277 number works for an application to save you using and paying for the 0870 number. Just ignore the prompts to key in your account number and you eventually get an operator during normal office hours. :)

Some quick answers to the above

    i. Never do a cashwithdrawal on this card - it ain't cheap - don't even consider it an option
ii. Super balance transfers (see here for definition). Barclays official line is SBTs are ONLY available for existing customers and it will not allow money to be transferred direct into a current account for new customers
