A heads up to anyone looking to apply. It looks like the demand for this offer has caused the Barclaycard applications site to go into meltdown. Can't get passed the first screen on the application. Oh well, just have to phone in tomorrow. :-/0

Sonic,
Would love to have sympathy but I would refer the honourable gentleman to the statement I made some moments ago... try checking out the new halifax One Platinum Plus deal - not so bad itself.

Dear Martin,
I took up a MINT offer, offering 0% on (BT) & purchaces and this offer ends October time. Now that this Barclaycard offer is out offering 0% until August 2005, could I do a BT from MINT to Barclaycard before my MINT offer ends (i. e. now)??, and WILL this effect my credit scoring if I do??
Cheers

I recently applied for the Halifax One card, and was turned down because my level of debt is above their lending threshold. I was advised to pay off some of the debt and reapply in 9 months. I now want to apply for the superior Barclaycard offer but am concerned that I will have the same result. I currently have a Lloyds TSB card at 0%, which I am paying off next week, an MBNA card with a 0% period ending in August and a Mint card with 0% ending in October.
If I get rid of the Lloyds card, pay off most of the MBNA card (to leave £5000) and then apply for a Barclaycard, does anyone know what the liklihood of:
a) Being approved
b) Getting the card and balance transfer sorted before August 3rd
would be?
Thanks! 8)0 -

hi just wondering if anyone can help me out as im not too clued up on credit cards.I have a debt of £1500 on my mastercard but would like to bt to the barclaycard if i do so would i have to pay this amount off before the 0% period is over? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You would have to pay the minimum payments each month, and if you wanted to avoid any interest charges then you would have to pay off the remaining balance by the end of the 0% period ie 1 August 2005. You could always do another bt just before 1/8/05 if able to obtain one.
T&C are quite strict on B/Card offer. Be careful not to miss any payment dates, or else you will lose the 0% rate.0 -
I just phoned Barclaycard to transfer a balance onto my Mastercard at the special existing customer rate and was told that even tough the ammount I wanted to transfer was within my credit limit I couldn't do it as I didn't have a high enough credit rating. I find this bizarre as they seem to be credit scoring existing customers who have the available credit on their accounts. Is there any way around this and has anyone else had this experience? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Yes, it happened to me a while back. I phoned barclaycard to increase my credit limit - which they did no problems, but refused to do a balance transfer for me! I hope I dont have the same problem this time around. should hear in the next couple of days if my balance has been transferredThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. YES, you can. Yes it may if you do it a lot. I've done it quite a bit but I've stopped short at taking it to extremes.
