Once again I find myself saying the same thing - if you haven't got anything constructive to say then don't say anything at all.

Or how about if you dont want to hear what people say then dont ask the question in the first place.

Tax the car, pay the fine, learn the lesson.

Ha love reading these posts, I would never own up to having my car towed for no tax and also my uncle using his "cough cough" trade plates.

Pay any fines and move on and next time do as someone said above

    Quoted from Ilikethesimpsons
We recently bought a car without tax, this is what we did.

Look at car, agree to buy it, pay for it, leave it at the sellers house, on his drive.

Take new keeper supplement, and M.O.T. With us.

Phone our insurer, Tesco, they tell me they now cover both cars for 24 hours, to allow you time to change over. This is a free service that they offer.

I ask Tesco to email me a copy of the certificate, they do so. I print this out

"Take insurance, M.O.T. and new keeper section to post office, tax car.

Within 2 hours, we have taxed and collected the car."

We all take risks, I have and may do again but if caught hey its my fault.

your post says you got insurance on it straight away and it was mot so you did not state waiting for insurance etc so dont moan at me for stating the law that it has to have tax and insurance to be on the road.

you should know that it was risky no tax on it should have put it on private land then.

serves you right you got caught as you were in the wrong

OP. For others to help you, and there are some around this part of the parish, you will have to give some credence to your stray, like dates and times. Otherwise, they cannot help you.

As I understand it, your mate had an untaxed car, and needed money. So you bought the car off him. It remained untaxed, and as today is about the 21st of June, it has been, I suggest, untaxed for about three weeks? As a driver, I cannot condone the use of a vehicle on the road that is untaxed, as as such, uninsured as well. Whether you used it or not is immaterial to this. One lesson to earn from this, when a mate needs money, and gives you some surety as an incentive, do not part with your cash until the said object is taxed etc.

If you genuinely have been done wrong, then you will have to get your facts right, more than you gave done so here. To me, I can say I recently got married. That could mean it was last Saturday, last month, or today.

If you are going to give advice out then please try and get it right, lack of tax does not mean no insurance.;)

No tax is an offence, as such, the insurance is not valid. Terms and conditions for the insurance is that the vehicle is taxed.

If you care further to read, I suggested that op get their facts right. Op has no responded. One can gather by the silence, that there is nothing further to say.

    No further questions M'Laud

My Uncle who is a mechanic drove it home for me under is garages insurance policy using that plate dangled over the original reg which I cannot remember what its called! If that makes sense.

If so called uncle was working as instructed by garage, then for this journey car is insured. Once parked on the road, car s untaxed and uninsured.

If so called uncle was not working as instructed by garage, then for this journey the car was not insured.
