    Okay, here's a theory.
Hester, CEO of RBS recently expressed his concern and frustration.about Ulster Bank.
An apologetic message from him about the IT failure appeared on RBS and Nat West websites but not Ulster.
Could it be that the overall position in Ulster is so bad that a decision has been taken to let it go?
Could the failure to update be a time buying exercise to prevent a run on the bank while some sort of rescue plan is put in place?

Partly, take paperless banking. When this started off,the Ulsterbank CS person I spoke to told me to take a recent statement along with my D.Card & ID into the branch to get money...
One MAJOR problem.....As I'm paperless banking,I no longer receive paper statements each month &,as the online banking wasn't working,I couldn't print off any statements to take into the bank...

A Catch 22 if ever there was one.

We take so much for granted, yet we have a bank being fined £290,000,000 for falsifying and others likely to be investigated on similar activity. Imagine there was a real crisis, just how many would be able to get funds out before they closed the doors? How long would it take the government to intervene? Or perhaps like Argentina it is the government who instigates and freezes accounts. (in that case dollar accounts).

Anything is possible, wouldn't discount anything where this lot are concerned. Having to work with any of them is like having lunch with the Borgias.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many times you usually get to input details in anytime online banking? I got locked out yesterday after I thought only 2 times but couldn't be sure. When I got to go back in they ask for name, dob etc and then on 2nd page account no, sort code and debit card number. I was abit wary when asked this so left it. I asked in bank and also rang anytime number who said this was the norm to reset the username/password.
    Anyone any experience of this?

The bank is already 'bailed out' as the UK government had to nationalise RBS during the banking crisis in 2008 to stop them going bust.

Therefore, there's no need to worry about losing your cash/savings .. or should I say, bank credit for money in the bank is nothing more than a credit promise by the bank.... The government will make that promise good by taking it from the pockets of the UK population if necessary as it has been doing for the last few years on behalf of the entire failed UK banking system. It might take the government some time to set up the smoke and mirrors necessary to make everything look hunky dory though.

Clearly there is same bad ju-ju happening in Ulster Bank. The fact that there's so little said about it in the general media should tell us that something is being covered up.

The biggest giveaway however is that it has not been possible to transact out of Ulster Bank to another UK/foreign bank for at least a week now. It has been cut off the banking system .. a clear sign of major trouble with their systems.

Any which way you look at it though, the future is bleak for the bank. Nationalised of not, people will take their accounts elsewhere in droves as soon as it becomes possible to do so. I can see it being wound up and sold off to be incorporated into one of the other banks within a year.

I went into the branch this morning and it was a breeze, no cues, was taken straight away, withdrew 2 weeks wages and all my tax credits etc, am now going elsewhere.

Went into Bank of Ireland on Monday, opened an account, had the pin on Wednesday and the card today. Have already cancelled all my direct debits and set them up again.

So it's bye bye from me.

I also requested they reimburse me for the wasted petrol driving 30 miles round trip to get my money out, they agreed.

We went to BofI yesterday and opened acc!!!!s, the girl we dealt with only works a few days a week but as Ulster was due to be " all updated on monday" told her that wednesday would be fine to order cards etc. Silly me :(

Going to have to hold fire til this weeks wages goes in before we can move everything, although I am sure if pushed we could just go into branch and withdraw money. Going to give it a few days and start moving direct debits as they were all due on 28th and hopefully they have been paid as Ulster Bank have said .
    TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T
