I queued for ages in my local Ulster Bank today to get some cash and try to pay some bills.
I feel so sorry for the staff-girl who served me was exhausted but still as helpful as she could be .I'm sure I am not alone in thinking this problem is so much bigger than what we are being told.
Stephen Nolan said he asked for someone to come on his show to explain the situation 11 days in a row with no response. A spokesman was on Radio Ulster this morning but wasn't able to give any assurances.
    What is going on????

nationwide pay you £100 and set up all your dd etc for free.its just a matter of you bringing them a statement, and they do the rest.i have been told this by a friend who transfered from santander a while ago.i intend to do this once this mess is sorted.

Partly, take paperless banking. When this started off,the Ulsterbank CS person I spoke to told me to take a recent statement along with my D.Card & ID into the branch to get money...
One MAJOR problem.....As I'm paperless banking,I no longer receive paper statements each month &,as the online banking wasn't working,I couldn't print off any statements to take into the bank...

This is the exact reason why I have refused to go paperless with any of my accounts!!! I like getting statements as proof of my transactions and balances.

Anyhoo, I get my salary paid into Ulster and have already contacted my payroll dept to get it paid into a different account with a different bank from next month. As soon as possible, I will be going into Ulster Bank, removing all the money in my account and closing it, and I imagine that many others will do the same.

I removed all the money but they wouldn't let me close my account yet until this is sorted.

Its the time to find the best workers who can fix the problem with computers... because as far this ones are UNLESS... THEY sit, drink coffee and LAUGHING about customers ... they say all the time that they are sorry but they really not feeling sorry for us... these are just meaningless words ... unfortunately ...

As long as your money is out of there, that's the main thing...

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many times you usually get to input details in anytime online banking? I got locked out yesterday after I thought only 2 times but couldn't be sure. When I got to go back in they ask for name, dob etc and then on 2nd page account no, sort code and debit card number. I was abit wary when asked this so left it. I asked in bank and also rang anytime number who said this was the norm to reset the username/password.
    Anyone any experience of this?

Yes, with NatWest (in the same group), where you get just one go at logging in. If you make a mistake you're temporarily locked out.

I first came up against it early last year and, like you, was very wary about being asked to enter so many details when I'd never seen it before (previously if you made a mistake there was a warning but you could try again). I called the NW online banking help desk to check. They confirmed it was genuine.

They said they could unlock me while I was on the phone: you answer security questions and they ask for selected characters from your login details (as you'd have to give if you were logging in online).

When I slipped up again a few weeks ago I just rang the online help desk straight away instead of going through the online Q&A process. It just seems more straightforward. Takes a few minutes... so long as you pass the test ;)
I'd guess UB's Anytime banking has its own help desk number?
