Just been for a 5K run and found it quite hard going today - I know why so I'm not downhearted about it - no breakfast, big swim yesterday and its warm - all my own fault (apart from the weather).

    :naughty: That'll teach you!!:rotfl:

Lovely, positive posts this morning, great to hear you and sparkles planning your next challenges.

I tried to post yesterday but lost it and got cross! Nothing hugely exciting but it's so irritating.

mrg, you sound super organised with your wardrobe for the week!!

I must admit that I was intrigued by adelight's implication that jobs in the public sector can't be stressful and challenging. I think you may be guilty of believing what's in the papers;) (jumps off soapbox)

Prompted by sparkles I went to Superdrug yesterday. I bought 2 Maybellne mascaras and a lip pencil. 30p!! Today I've done some routine fabbing, including a deep condition on my hair. It needs cutting but it always seems an expensive waste of money to have a blow dry when I'm not going anywhere special so I'm trying to co-ordinate all that.

Not much else is urgent today (other than cooking dinner later) so I might take a book into the garden and catch a few rays before it disappears!
  • Afternoon all!

Everyone seems quite focused on their individual goals which is good to hear. :)

I have run out of my usual hair colour and went to get some more but both shops that stock it have closed today (one of them is usually open until early afternoon on Sundays) so ended up getting a red colour instead from Wilkinsons, a Live XXL colour foam. I'm not sure it's really quite my colour but better than faded hair with roots coming through! It will have to do until I can get my usual later in the week.

I've stayed away from Superdrug as I know I would just come back with loads of stuff and I have so much make-up already I want to use what I've got already before I buy more(even if they are only 10p!)

It is a lovely day, might do some gardening in a bit. I got some reduced Violas which I have been assured just need a little TLC and will continue flowering until March. We'll see! I'm a bit hit and miss when it comes to gardening.

  • Well I won't be using that hair dye again. It's gone a yucky orangy brown colour and quite patchy (quite hard to see that the whole of your hair is covered due to the foam from this dye) and it's more expensive than my usual colour! :( I might have to just wear a hat!

    Hi all,

Thanks so much for all the good wishes - am really excited about it :) Is feeling a little surreal at the moment, am getting emails from my 'editor' a contract through, forms to fill in so they can work on my cover design, etc.

Lizzie - hope you enjoy the creative writing module - I started on the first one 2 years ago which was the first time I'd written anything probably since I was at primary school - so it just goes to show if I can do it then anyone can!

ww - well done on the weight loss :jgood luck with the spending plans.

Everyone seems to be getting some great bargins this week. I never seem to have much luck with them :rotfl:popped into Superdrug today but only had some of the brands I'm not keen on and they were only reduced to £2-3 - maybe the good stuff had been cleared out already!

MRG - I'm not keen the Live XXL either - am still stuck with Garnier Ultra I used a few weeks ago, not keen on the colour and it's been really drying on my hair. Am debating writing to them to complain, I've used the Nutrisse before and that was quite nice so rather disappointed in this one. Saw the John Freida foam on half price today - has anyone tried it?

Bit of a quiet weekend so far, had a choir gig last night. Was ok, was a charity dinner dance and we were on while they were eating, which I thought was a little odd and meant they weren't getting into it as much as we normally have, also the sound engineer was pretty useless and most of the mics weren't working right. Still, we muddled through :) Went to the doctor's Friday and have some anti-biotics, think they are helping a bit, still coughing but my chest feels a little better. Managed a little walk today, still not quite up to anything more energetic but hopefully will improve this week. Hoping to go see a local band we know tonight, will see how I'm feeling in a bit.
Hope everyone has a good day x

I confess I'm quite scared now the books have come I also haven't done any real writing since school which was a long time ago:rotfl:and though I'm really keen to do it I'm not sure that I'll be any good at it now.

I'm not keen on XXL either though haven't tried thr foam version. When I used it it ended up very dark and has had to grow out as nothing would cover it. I'll never use it again. I've also used the John Freida foam and I actually quite liked it but it does take some gatting used to applying the foam so it covers all your hair, also would never pay full price for it as for that I could go to local college and have it done by a student. I usually just use whats on offer or the cheapest in the shop.

Bitsy I agree about the t-shirts I have a few which ride up and show my muffin top. Unfortunately my mum always seems to get me one for my birthday despite me telling her I prefer longer ones.

Had a good weekend despite another teen strop from DS3. Been for a cheap pub lunch as it's far too hot for the usual sunday roast, bathed the dog much to her disgust:rotfl:. Am still working on finding a yoga class, have found one but it's a bit expensive for me so have another to phone up just hoping there are some places left.
Have also gone back to making a list of jobs/ fabbing for each day as I seemed to be getting nowhere even though I'm always busy. I find it satisfyin g to cross off what I've finished and need to get organised for course starting.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  • Evening all,

Hope you all enjoyed the sun, bit cloudy here but warm.

Fabbed up for a mates b'day friday night, hair curled & everything. By 11.30 i was being put in a taxi home due to drinking on an empty stomach.
Was very poorly (completely self inflicted) and yesterday was a write off didnt move from sofa. I just cant seem to drink much any more!

Today ventured to shops, bought couple cardys and new gym outfit, had a nightmare with shopping for new trainers, so thats a mission for another day.

    Eh xx

Lizzie - I'm sure you'll do fine. The worst part for me was actually putting something down in the first place - I had horrible visions of handing in blank pages for assignments because I wouldn't be able to think of a single thing to put down on them! The first parts of the book were really good for helping you get into it though - and if you can make it to the tutor groups or join in the forums then you find everyone else has exactly the same worries. Hope you enjoy it x
  • I've had a bit of a play around with my hair and I think I'm able to clip it in a way that hides the patchy bits without looking too silly. :) (I hope!). It's too hot for a hat so that will have to do! Still not keen on the colour though.
Everhopeful I hope your stomach is a bit more settled today! I'm the same, I can't drink like I used to and get away with it! (but maybe that's a good thing!).
PP I hope the anti-biotics will mean you will be feeling a lot better soon. :) Enjoy your night out. I do like live music. :)

  • Hi Everyone

Can't sleep so thought I'd do something productive, like catch up on here.:D

I've been awol for a couple of days because I have just been so busy. RL definitely getting out of control.

Anyway the good news is - all outside painting done, hedges cut, lawns mowed, borders cleaned and tidied, trees repotted. Phew...

The house is a tip but hoping to make a start on that tomorrow (today). Already started the mountain of ironing.

I'm back to doing OH's laundry and there is a lot of it, however they keep losing stuff and he ends up with other people's clothes too. That is just not satisfactory - both expensive and where's the dignity in seeing someone else wearing your clothes and being dressed in someone else's clothes.

As you can see I am not entirely happy with the nursing home what with the laundry and the attitude of some of the carers. I have now taken to impromptu and unscheduled visits. I want to monitor things very closely...

Although I've not posted for a couple of days I have managed to keep up with you all. There is some great stuff going on here, plenty of bargains, plenty of personal and house fabbing.

PP - glad you got some anti-biotics - hope they kick in soon.

Lizzie - good luck with the writing course. I'm sure you'll love it.

Carmen - Hey Twinnie - long time no see, great to hear from you. Hope all is well. Glad you are still lurking. Do post again when you have time.

I've stopped by to say hello to WW & Sparkles on their new debt free diaries. I won't start one of my own but I shall be joining you on a bit of belt tightening. I need to.:rotfl:

I'm really pleased however with my savvy shopping recently. I needed some large 50cm pots for my fruit trees - garden centre had them reduced to £20 for 2. I needed 3 - tracked some down at £stretchers £1-99 each. Result. OK not quite as pretty but they are only for the "nursery" section of the back garden so good enough.
Also bought some bulbs for the spring and some bits for the house revamp.

I've also started to restock my food cupboards and freezers. I tend to do this each autumn. Although I don't live in a remote area and we live below the snow line (south Derbyshire doesn't get the same amount of snow as the north of the county) I do like to stock up for the winter. So although I shall spend a bit over the next few weeks - it does even out in the end because I have use it up months after Christmas - from January onwards. I also intend to start my Christmas stash - food and stocking fillers within the next week or two.

When OH was at home I was a lot more housebound and couldn't shop around as easily, now I have more opportunities for browsing and it does help. This week I managed to browse around £stretcher and Home Bargains - fortunately next door to each other.

So as my mission is to start saving more money I shall be using the big supermarkets less and do a regular trawl round the cheaper shops. No shame in that - judging by the number of Mercedes, Audi's, BMW's and Lexus cars I saw in the car park.

Anyway I think I might be starting to feel sleepy so will go back to bed.

    G'night all x
