  • Hi,
Very tired this morning, not sure if it's just the adjustment back to not having DD2 around and so doing more or what. It's not getting up earlier as I was usually up about the same times during hols.Must go to be a bit earlier!

MRG I've had the same - I lost 4llbs and then nothing for the next 2 weeks, but I wasn't eating enough calories on non fast days so have tried to up it a bit,(just hope I've not upped it too much). I only weigh myself fortnightly -don't want to get too obsessed- so I'll let you know what happens when I weigh in next week.

    PP
Glad you're feeling a bit better. Good news about the weight loss. Enjoy your meet ups - wish there was something round here I could getr to but as yet can't find anything.

Hewie Hope you feel brighter soon. It's awful when you can't sleep, it can have a knock on effect for days sometimes especially if you're busy.

Have managed to find a yoga class - it is more than I wanted to pay really especially when I factor in bus fares but will just have to see how I go on and try again for the cheaper ones after xmas. I'm having to pay for a block of 6 so as xmas gets nearer it may not be possible -unfortunately most of the classes are quite pricey.
Have had a letter to go for a mammogram . Has anyone been for one? Am not sure how I feel about having one, the letter acompanying it seems to be saying it only detects a few cancers and it emits radiation ( a small amount) onto the breasts. Apparentely they've extended the programme to include younger women and I will be invited for one every 3 yrs.

Have managed to get quite a lot done in the house (still loads to go at though), have made a start on my workbook for OU, so making a list seems to be going ok so far. Have agood day everyone.

I have had a mammogram. No side effects, its just uncomfortable when the breast is Squeezed between the two plates! I hated it. However it is a peace of mind thing!.
I walked DGD to school today. This is a leap for me, who couldnt walk much passed my garden gate last year. But I am aching now.
Complements from the other Mums who havent seen me since July. Said I look well, the tan is helping of course.
But I feel jaded today. I didnt sleep very well. I too have too much on my mind keeping me awake. i also had to get up earlier to get DGD ready for her first day at school. She was so excited, she was ready over an hour before she needed to go to school. Bet that wont last.
I have my hairdone later today. Taking my Mum with me to get hers cut as she has been away in France for 3 months and it needs doing. Usually she cuts it herself, but at 78 she is now getting a bit too old to do it. I have cut it for her in years passed, but its about time she had a bit of a pampering!.
Time to go and get some body lotion into my legs, to help maintain the tan. Other fabbing will have to wait.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Pod - hope the meet ups go well and you enjoy them.

Lizzie - I think its positive that they are extending the mammogram programme for younger women but I imagine the thought is a little daunting. Please go for it, it will at least give you peace of mind.

LL - Thank you. I've slept better since Monday as I have started to figure out what needs doing. I know there are plenty of people moving house and it's always stressful. We have the added complication that we're moving countries (back to the UK this time) and that means we need to figure out tax issues, cars, housing (we have a house in the UK but won't move back into it) and whether we need to look for new jobs.

I finally finished week 2 of couch to 5k last night. Aiming to start week 3 on Friday.

Not long to go now until the equinox and I haven't made my goals but I'm back on the wagon now and starting again.

    Morning all,

MRG - hope you're feeling better today x

WW - sounds a bit like the group I'm going to, there are a few different organisers and some of the walks sound quite strenous but the woman who's one I'm booked on tonight seems to run the slighest easier evening and weekend ones and makes a point of making sure the starting points are accessible by public transport :)

Hewie - well done on getting back into the exercise, hope you feel a bit better soon x

Lizzie - yoga classes do seem to be really expensive, I've been looking for ones near me and if you can find one for £5-6 then that seems to be cheap! Added to the fact that a lot want you to book in blocks and it does add up. Try not to worry about the mammogram, I think it's great that they're extending them to more people - my mum had breast cancer several years and thankfully, due to it being caught early, is now fine - always better to be safe then sorry!
I was thinking about you meetup-wise - if there's nothing in your area then maybe you could look at starting something. The group I'm going to is a (hopefully) relaxed walking group that's dog-friendly - the organiser picks a route, everyone meets and has a walk and a chat. That would be fairly easy to organise, it would get you meeting new people - and by making it dog-friendly then you could also build up a potential customer-base for if you wanted to set up your business :)

Heebie-jeebies - well done on the c25k :T I was just about into week 2 when I got ill so am thinking will try again at weekend if I'm feeling ok then - probably need to start again though!

Had choir last night so not much else got done. Looking a bit dull and cloudy today, just hoping it stays dry for the walk tonight. Am a little nervous meeting new people but I think a few of them bring dogs so they're usually a bit of an ice-breaker. Will be dashing to get there from work though, not the best bus routes to it :(

Pod - hope the walk goes well and the weather is good for you. I'm off on one tomorrow with a new group, its usually fine once you get there, the thought of it is always worse.

Lizzie - please do go for the mammogram, a few mins discomfort is such a small price to pay for peace of mind and early detection if there was anything to worry about. My gran, her sister and my mum have all had breast cancer so I'm very pro-scans. I'd have one tomorrow if they offered me one. Think of it as an MOT for you.

Mooloo - hope the hairdo went well, I'm sure your mum appreciated it too. Good that others are noticing the new improved you!

Another busy day at work - stayed an extra hour to do some tutorial work with the brightest kids that are doing the hardest exams in November. I had to go through endoscopy, colonoscopy and kidney stone treatment with them (doing medical physics) and they were entralled by the bums, blood and guts! My boss (head of dept, I'm deputy head of dept) is doing his usual delegation tricks again - not impressed with him at the moment, not actually sure what work he does do:mad: And at a time when the union is advising working to rule:(

Just back from a fast walk/jog with the dog - it was normal walk but my feet just wanted to run so we did:rotfl: Poor poocher, he loved it but is now flopped panting on the settee.

No mega fabbing efforts planned for tonight - just a bath and a sit on the sofa watching Mrs Biggs and the soaps.
Hope everyone is well and keeping up the good work, only a couple more weeks now ladies!

I really like the idea of those walks pod and ww. Particularly as I now realise you don't need a dog! Is it a particular organisation to google?

Did some fabbing today and saved some money into the bargain. I've been toying with the idea of going for either a pedicure or a chiropody treatment. I used to have dreadful problems with my feet but after persisting for a dermatology referral and taking antibiotics they now look healthy, just one nail to grow through completely. Instead of paying abt £30 I did it myself. I filed my feet, soaked them in bubble bath, sorted out cuticles, cut nails then creamed them and put on little socks all evening. I'll paint my nails tomorrow. Very pleased with myself!:D

I also had a good sort out of some paperwork that was getting messy and disorganised - lots filed, some shredded and all tidied away neatly.

:THewie on the weightloss. Agree that's very unusual during holidays!

I've been short of sleep too but mine is mostly self induced as I stayed awake listening to Murray winning the US Open! Caught up a bit last night, but I'm a poor sleeper anyway.:(

Hope you and your mum enjoyed the hairdresser's mooloo. Good that you are managing the school run and getting compliments. I'm still managing to maintain my tan too. I moisturise with body lotion mixed with a bit of self tanner. It should last until we're forced into opaques!:rotfl:

I'd welcome an opinion on this: we're going to two weddings next month on consecutive weekends. Both are family so can't wear the same outfit. We're fairly 'important' guests, DH is best man at one and reading at the other. The trouble is that I hate buying 'weddingy' outfits that'll just hang in the wardrobe. I have bought a dress for the second wedding, very similar to this:
    140.jpg
The dress is indoors at a country house hotel so I won't need a coat. I might get a fascinator or something if I can find one I like. The other wedding is in a church and being mid October will need at least a jacket if not a coat. I'm inclined to wear the purple velvet coat I wore to a wedding last year ( a few have seen it but they may not remember;)). Last year I wore a purple, jersey dress underneath but I've worn that a fair bit since. The wedding's not until 4.30 p.m so an evening reception. What could I wear to the evening reception that would look good under a purple coat? I don't mind spending as long as it's something I could wear again. What do you wear to weddings?
  • Hi maman,

    Re: weddings

If I were you I would go for the purple outfit worn last year for the second wedding and jazz the outfit up with a facinator, necklace, earrings and so on. Maybe you could buy a new bag or pair of shoes if needed?

As for the first wedding, if it wereme I would see what I had first to see if there was anything I could wear, if not I would look for a dress I could wear over again to get the money spent per wear down!

Btw the green dress looks very nice and you could easily dress it up or down with shoes and accessories.

As for me, no exercise this week as I fight off a cold and sore throat doing the rounds at work. That was the reason I was so tired! Half study day this afternoon to tackle a book and pull some ideas together for uni for next week.

Hope the weather is fine so me and the dog can get out for a nice long walk and I'll fab the bathroom up and do some ironing after study is done.

Hair done, feel better. Mum was thrilled to have her hair done, and to have the experience of going to a hairdressers that was friendly, and not snobby!. She was well pleased. Will go with me again. My Dad said it was nice, and as long as my Mum liked it. He is not one at complements. But he said she should also go with me more. So it looks like someone else to share the day with regularly.
Didnt get the skin lotion done though.
Oh well maybe later today when I have a few minutes.

    Morning all,

Well, the walk went quite well last tonight. A few drop outs so ended up just being 4 of us (5 if you count the dog!) but was quite nice having a smaller group for my first time and they seemed really nice and we had a good chat. Hadn't been to the place before and was a beach walk as the sun was going down, so was really pretty :) Annoyingly awkward place for buses though, took me about an hour to get home afterwards and was starving by then :rotfl:Managed to restrain from scoffing half the kitchen, was slightly over my normal cals but think the 2 and a bit hour walk should make up for that.

Maman - I found this one through a site called Meetup - if you look for your local one they should have a list of groups in your area and see if there's a walking one. If not there's usually something around - there's ramblers but you need to pay an annual fee for them so this might be better if you have one nearby as the groups are usually either free or just a small charge to cover costs to organise if there are any.

Sparkles - hope you feel better soon x
Mooloo - glad you and mum enjoyed the haircuts :)
  • Went for my very first run this morning
I was soooooo nervous :o secretly worried I would embarrass myself :o anyway didn't run the whole 3/4 of a mile probably ran half a mile in total. So now I've taken the first step it wasn't too bad. Hard work but no one pointed and stared :rotfl:

Mooloo glad your mum was pleased with her hair cut :)

Maman whats stopping you wearing the purple dress? It is still looks like new save your money and wear it :)

Sorry gotta dash going out for coffee :D
