  • EH - That's terrible. You should complain in the morning - especially if they charged you for cut and finish and left it wet. On the positive side, I always prefer it when I've styled my hair myself, the hairdresser finish is not how I normally wear it so finish it yourself and see how you feel about the results. Take a day or two to see if you get used to the layers and if not, is a shorter single length too drastic?
  • Can totally sympathise EH. I always like to feel as if I've had a nice treat after the hairdressers. You'd think giving you were a new client they would be trying to impress you to gain your custom again.
  • Good morning everyone:)

Hugs to those of you feeling low.

    Well done PP - that's fantastic news.:T:T
Am doing creative writing as my next OU module. Would love to do some writing myself.

EH I've had some awful cuts and hairdressers. They don't seem to listen do they? Not very good customer care being treated that way.

LL- sorry you're having a bad time. Everything seems to come at once doesn't it, just when you think nothing else can happen it does! Don't know what to say except thinking of you and hoping you managed to get sorted soon.
Regarding your friend, has she contacted any welfare rights people? I'd recommend it if she can. Although you still have the worry of it all they know which way to go and will try to get her what she is entitled to. I do hope it works out for her but as I know it is very stressful and in itself takes its toll on your health.

We are still not fully sorted after 6/7 months of DWP dealings. We have been given a bit of back money but it doesn't seem to tally with the breakdown we got. I've decided to wait until next payment and then we should know by the amount whats what but if not looks like I'll have to phone them again!

Jobcentre was ok I suppose. Just find it all pointless tbh -it's all very well looking into what I would like to do and whether or not I need further study to get said job when there are very few jobs out there and realistically would they take on some newly qualified person over the ones with experience? The people behind the desk just do not seem to get it at all. Although I know it's good to have ambition I also think you need to be aware of the pitfalls or it can be a real shock when you can't get into the job you've set your heart on.

A bit fed up about the yoga too -not sure if I'm going to be able to afford to go as they want money in a block up front. Am going to ring this morning and see if there's any way round it but as there were only a few places left yesterday I don't know if I'll manage to sort it in time. If not will have to wait til January and save up.

More house fabbing today and need to get myself organized again now as my fabbing has been hit and miss over the last few weeks.

    Have a fab friday all.

Yes she is doing this. She has also been contacted by them regarding claiming against the NHS about her late husband's (lack of) care.

I won't go into details but he died of cancer and his death was horrific - all down to negligence and carelessness on the part of the hospital. It haunts her still.

The hospital as admitted full responsibility for negligence and has offered an apology but she has been advised to go the compensation route - not to bring him back - to stop the hospital behaving in this manner again.

    Have a fab friday all.

I really don't know what to say about jobcentres etc. In the past I have found them to be a complete waste of space - and that was when times were good and there were plenty of jobs.

At the moment I'm not sure what function or role they can have. As far as I can see there is precious little work around. Training is all very well - but for what and where are these mythical jobs going to come from.

We now live in a post industrial society - so not much in the way of manufacturing. Added to that many of our service jobs are being outsourced to the Eastern Europe and the Far East and realistically what are left with.

We know that we excel at the creative industries, fashion, music, film, technology. We are world leaders in those fields.

We also have some of world's best brains. Scientists, medics and academics.

Our infrastructure is on it's knees, clogged up roads and railways, crumbling schools and hospitals, full to the brim prisons, inadequate water and sewage systems. We desperately need capital investment, capital projects, investment in science, technology, cheaper energy alternative energy, waste management.

We have the skills, talent, will, energy - look at the Olympics - just look what we Brits can do given half a chance.

We need a government with brains and a Prime Minister with b*lls.

Job centres - waste of time, money and resources.

Did anyone see the Hilary Devine programme last night - 9-00 BBC2 . Hilary is one of the ladies from Dragon's Den. Left on her own with a young child she built up a multi-national shipping and logistics business - from scratch. The programme was all about the role of women in the workplace and the difficulties we face. It's on again next week - well worth a look.

Anyway - Fab Friday and the sun is shining. Off into town - £stretcher and Home Bargains - last of the big spenders me:rotfl:

EH - What a shame about the hair cut. I was disappointed with mine too - I need to a better hairdresser. My last haircut was a complete waste of money - I could have done better myself with a penknife...

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning ladies

Like Fedupandskint I exercised yesterday in an attempt to banish the blues and at least it tired me out so I had an early night, a good sleep and feel much better today.

It's Fab Friday and because of this I have done my nails this morning before work (something I would never have done before Fab Friday so thank you ladies!) along with the usual fabbing.

    Have a good weekend

I am painting walls today so no fabbing for me, house fabbing instead.
I have a mobile hairdresser who comes to my house (she's now a very good friend) and I find it far more convenient having them come to my house. It's far cheaper too :money: very disappointing to see how many of you having poor haircuts

LL hope your friend is successful. An apology is to good enough, surely those providing the care need to take a little more responsibility than just saying sorry :(

Hugs for all of you feeling the blues. If you have the sun where you are try and get out in it and get yourself some Vit D xxx

The end of the week - hurrah!:j:j
Still shattered but have just been for a nice long walk with the dogs and my gay best friend - we even treated ourselves to an icecream in the park - gave half of mine to the dog who was panting away. Nice to have a good chat and some fresh air, feet are killing me now though after standing all day and then walking a few miles.

No big plans for the weekend - a bit of sleep, housework and chores and some proper exercise (running and swimming).
May go to the cinema if I get bored. Tonight its a bath, some telly and a sit down though. For Fab Friday I wore a new blouse to work in a bright purple colour and loads of people commented on it (in a good way!).

Woo hoo its Friday here too!

Am back on the lappy at last after taking it to the repair shop and hey presto it worked, why does that always happen? Not complaining though as no cost!

Picked up quite a few fabby bits today in the 10p sale - maybelline eye shadow for work in browns x 2, maybelline lipsticks in 2 shades, maybelline nailvarnish x 2 in pale pink and pastel, 2 maxfactor mascara for 49p each to either use or swap in the next exchange, a garnier blemish night treatment for 10p, 2 x30ml moisturisers for 49p each for holidays, a pantene treatment spray for 12p on the shelf. Lots of pantene shampoo massive sizes on the shelf for 47p which didn't get as can't use them due to the ingredients. Happy with those bargains!

Also picked up some more shampoo and conditioner to try out downbranding again and some hair defence spray again downbranded from higher high street brand.

What else, collected the clothes order - jacket for £9 instead of £45, top x 2 for £7 instead of £15 and £29 and skirt for £12 instead of £35. At last have found one to go with a couple of skirts that is fitted and have 2 outfits for £12 and £19. Might even wear it next Sat on a night out!

Looking forward to tomorrow by Ripping in 30, walking lots and visiting mum as we hunt down some more bargains while pottering around.

Shoes should arrive on monday and will only keep these if they fit absolutely perfectly otherwise they're going back, then I'll be almost ready for autumn and winter clothes wise. Have a feeling a lot of the jumpers will be a little on the large side but hey, that's what Christmas is for!

Hope we all have a wonderful weekend and I'm certainly feeling a lot brighter as that exercise blasted away those negative thoughts!

Hi, back from my holidays. Tanned, and well fed! Thats a bit good and bad!. Feel like I am about to burst the amount of food we ate on holiday.
But after a decent nights sleep tonight I hope I will be feeling refreshed and ready to take on the new school term etc and get DGD off.
For me, I will then make a programme of works to get my hair done, etc and to loose the weight I put on this past two weeks!.
I havent read the updates since the 24/8/ so please forgive me. I just havent got the time or energy to at the moment.
Hopefully I will skim through it all when things are less rushed.
I was really pleased with the clothes i took on holiday, and the way I looked. And only with lipstick too.
    The suntan helps.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Hmmmm have come to the conclusion I can only wear v necked t shirts if layered under something else. Wore a lovely yellow one yesterday but because of its length it ended at my worst part.....I definately find longer line t shirts more flattering. Since it was too hot for a cardigan yesterday I ended up with just a t shirt and feeling self conscious and fat on the school run :o unsuprisingly that started a heap of negative thoughts about myself last night :(:o

Anyways will banish those thoughts with some yoga later and maybe some visualisation.

I am planning on doing naff all today :D since Wednesday I have been on the go non stop and I am shattered. Conservatory now painted and room out back to rights. So I shall pamper myself with taking it very easy today. NO guilt :D looks to be a hot one again, loads of fog over the fields when I walked the pooch :D

Have a great Saturday everyone. Hugs and high fives all round xx
