Don't talk to me about teeth :p

My dentist kept putting off appointments, then I had a letter saying as I hadn't visited for 18 months I was struck off his list!!!! I couldn't find a new NHS dentist - certainly couldn't afford private - so four years(ish) later, here I am wishing that I could be whisked into hospital, all teeth removed and replaced with expensive fabulous looking dentures :D

All four wisdom teeth came through, they and the ones next to them are crumbling. Bottom left are down to the gumline. Top left wisdom has crumbled a bit, the one next to it seems to be slowly working it's way out. Bottom right are crumbling, imagine both teeth are one tooth and there's a hole in the middle from one side to the other. Top right are both almost at the gumline. Top left, fourth one along has fallen out.

I suppose I'm lucky in that my smile isn't very wide, so no-one notices any of it.

I brush twice a day, pay special attention to my gums (which are receding) and use interdental brushes. What really pees me off is mr tru will go to bed and eat a couple of chocolates after cleaning his teeth (errrrr why clean them, then?) and just brush generally, not really pay attention and his teeth are perfect.

  • I don't love the dentist either but go every 6 months for a checkup, helps that the dentist is fit & only pay NHS prices, think about £12 a visit, I usually get xrays once a year & scale & polish for this. I would love my teeth whitened.

Feeling lot better today, had soup & crisps for lunch so nausea definitely gone.

Busy week of voluntary stuff Brownies tonight, brownies tomorrow, blood donors & guides on Friday! As I mad yes but helping out a couple mates, usually only 1 night a week.

Best get back to the day job!

Madrabbitgirl - Well done on the dental appt. I'm not fond of the dentist either -have very sensitive teeth and receding gums - I do force myself to go though, ( but do agree Tru might be easier to have them out!). I also have trouble with the interdental brushes and floss so I don't use them much but the at last scale and polish I had she said they weren't as bad so suppose even if you just floss every now and then it's better than not at all.

LL - I'm jealous I'd love to join a choir. Why does there seem to be so little going on around my way? Have searched the internet, local papers etc. There's things in outlying areas ( to expensive or difficult to get to on public transport) but nothing I can get to. Maybe you get to hear of these things word of mouth?? and as I don't see anyone much that's why I can't find anything. I'm going to keep looking though.

Have done some yoga again this morning -my back is still not right. I can really feel how my whole body has stiffenened since my shoulder went and I stopped doing zumba. :( So I must make sure I take it steady :o
Am also not going to bother with the weighing bit have put on 3lbs according to the wii ????:(. This is what usually causes me to think sod it. I know I've not got to the tackling my eating bit yet (though I thought I'd not done too bad the last few days) , but how can doing something not result in you at least remaining as is?

Marathon washing session going on atm now the washer's fixed. Amazing how my washing mounts up only been without it 3 days:eek:.

Lizzie - whereabouts are you (obviously fairly vaguely :)) maybe there are people nearby-ish who might know of things. Also, I've heard that the Wii scales can be a bit unreliable and very up and down so might not be as bad as you think x

Singing in public? I'd be arrested!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Good luck to all you would be divas! Good to find something you enjoy and makes you happy:T

Not a bad day today - food has been ok so far but no exercise other than dog walking, leg not as bad but can still feel it a bit. Might do one of the 10 min solutions DVDs later (easier than Shred) to keep me moving - will stop if it hurts though.

Had a mini triumph yetserday and most of you will think its really silly but it made me quite proud of myself. The smoke alarm (which is hard wired into the electrics but has a battery as a back up for power cuts) was beeping for the battery to be changed. I tried and tried and couldn't get it off the ceiling, had a paddy and thought about asking the boy next door to have a go for me.
Just before I admitted defeat and gave in and asked a man to do it for me I had one last go and did it:j Such a small simple victory, but its been one of the little things that sometimes annoy me about being single - lifting heavy things, reaching high things, a bit of brute force etc.... But I managed and did it myself - ridiculous, I know, to be proud of such a piffling thing but when your confidence is knocked by a man small things turn into big things.....

Anyway, I'm starving so I'm off to find some tea.
    Have a good evening

PS BBC2 9pm - seems to be a good new crime series starting, may be worth a look?
  • Tru- That's really bad that they struck you off when it was their fault for not having an appointment available for you. :( I was quite surprised when phoned them and they said they were taking new NHS patients on as I thought it would be really difficult and thought I'd have to pay privately. Maybe if you asked around they might be taking on NHS patients now? (if it was a while when you last tried I mean?).

I always try not to smile too widely! One of my teeth is slightly wobbly so fear I will lose that. :(

I was only 7 mins late for work today (which is good, for me!).

I'm about to do my Zumba and then do my nails.

Lizzie157- I find that usually the first few weeks when I'm trying to lose weight the scales don't show it. I find it helpful to take measurements of my waist, hips etc.. and that will give you a clearer idea of if you are starting to slim down. I lost an inch off my waist before the scales showed any positive change. I'm only going to weigh myself once a week and concentrate more on how I am feeling and the way my clothes fit. :)

It wasn't just me, it happened to a couple of people I know and I'm guessing it was most of his patients because he retired not long after.

I'll be ringing around eventually, my bank account is empty atm. Maybe if I leave it long enough they'll all fall out and I'll only have to pay for dentures - how very MSE :D

Very pleased with myself. Made the decision to go for a run after work, stuck to it and it went much better than I expected after a 3 week break

Will check the weather tomorrow and its either a run or cardio at home

    Good morning Ladies

I was up with the larks this morning raring to go. I am in full decluttering mode at the moment.

I thought this little book might interest some of you. I read some last night and every time I read a bit of it it motivates me to get off my derriere and get stuck in.

"How to Get Things Done Without Trying Too Hard" by Richard Templar. Lots of tips and ideas for short cuts.

    Short cuts are good.:D

PP - and anyone else who wants/needs to make some money or wants to start a little business - he also wrote a book called "The Rules of Wealth".

They are easy little books - not too heavy and he is quite witty so they are nice to read as well as being very useful and motivational.

Anyway back to the decluttering. Trip to the tip planned for tomorrow.

I know how to live. :rotfl:
