What a surprise. Weigh in day today - a complete shock to have lost 4lbs over the last fortnight. Now that was a surprise, not sure if I really have. Don't feel that different, although after the ab work for the last 2 weeks I can feel my stomach pulling in a bit more.

Still not sure that loss is real.

Anyway, if it is, only 1lb to go until the next target is reached and then a review of muscle and weight and I'm concentrating on toning now with a bit less cardio

Level 1 Shred tonight - pretty ok, and will do it again tomorrow morning

    Well done Sparkles!
Hewie - what about joining one of the weightloss threads here? I do the OS one on the Old Style forum and its very supportive and talks lots of common sense ( no SW or WW allowed!) - just portion control, sensible food that can be family friendly and exercise.

I think you could comfortably lose at least a stone before your hols in 17 weeks. Write everything that passes your lips down and try to tally up calories (i just google things) - basically your input has to be less than your basic requirements to lose weight. You can speed this up by exercise and making the calorie deficit bigger. WW and SW do this by having foods that are "allowed" but I don't think they are long term solutions for everyone (I've done SW loads of times!). Its all about re-educating your food brain and this takes a lot of doing and you will make mistakes and have off days like me but I'm sure we can do it eventually.

I'm trying to stay within approx 1500 cals a day (my upper limit, some days its more like 1300) and do some exercise 5 times a week. This is anything from the Shred to swimming and my version of jogging (:rotfl:) - this probably burns between 170 - 400 cals a time depending on what I've done and for how long. My body needs 2200 cals to remain exactly the same weight - have a look at these web sites for your basic cal need and how many you need to lose weight
    http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-required/
    http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-goal.php

I'm a science teacher (can you tell:o) and have decided that this time I'm doing it the scientific way rather than allowing myself "free" foods (SW), points (WW) or replacement food - none of which can be done as a life change IMHO.

So, I am shattered but getting more toned, changing shape and hopefully losing some weight too.
    Good luck xx

WW - thanks for all the info I shall have a couple of read throughs to make sure it sinks in and I will have a look over at the weightloss forums on here. I do need to get it into my head that I am not dieting but healthy eating and making a change for life.

Well you guys all made me feel guilty about not doing any exercising tonight so my son did the coin toss for me - heads its a shred - tails in a slob on the sofa watching Nadal. So heads and the shred won. Feeling sooooo much better for it.

And as a reward ds made me a cuppa tea, bless him. He wants to be a pe teacher so he is so encouraging and has actually said he would struggle to do the shred!!!!! He's 15 and footie mad.

Right now to enjoy my cuppa and watch the rest of Nadal.

Just a thought to stop us all getting obsessed with diet and exercise and make the best of what we are now not what we want to be eventually......why don't we think about and try or recommend a little thing for each week to make us feel better about ourselves?
Could be a new shampoo, bubble bath, face mask/scrub, bit of jewellery, nail varnish etc. Lets put a limit of say £5 max on it so it needn't break the bank....

    I'll start us off...
Since starting swimming again my skin is drying out a bit. I can't stand body lotion (makes me feel hot and sticky) but have just started using Palmolive Ultra Moisturising Shower Gel and its lovely. Smells really nice and clean and leaves my skin nice and soft - the best bit ....it only costs about £1.

My treat was using a cheaper exfoliator opposed to the expensive ones I used to use in a former life. It was Superdrug Vit E bought as part of 342 and I really like it - both the face and the body one. Cost approx £2.99? Previous cost £29

Also wore my sale dress to work costing £9 reduced from £29.50 which got lots of comments about being too nice for work. It was totally different to what I usually wear but perfectly decent for work and I really liked wearing it

Plus, it was a size 8, rather generous size 8 mind, but even so, this time last year I was a 14 so I'll take that!

Also took measurements - half an inch gone from thighs and waist meaning it looks like that 4lb loss was real after all yesterday. Onwards and upwards for the next 2 weeks before holiday

    Morning ladies.
Sorry I've not been posting much, been a mega busy week of activities for school, errands to run so aside from the basics very little fabbing going on oops!
Yet anther busy day here so will have to plan my week next week better, back to writing my daily lists. I WILL do it.
Didn't manage no snacks yesterday and did have some sugar (instant custard :o) but I have to say I've not felt deprived or obsessed about food so far on the NoSDiet.

Well done on all the exercise and WL. I love WWs idea about a little something to make us feel better. My personal favourite moisturiser is coconut oil. You can buy a large tub of it from Holland and Barratt for £10 or you can buy a slightly smaller tub from Asian supermarkets (it's used in cooking) for less than £1.50. I know the H and B one is ultra virgin pressed or whatever but I can't justify spending that much :money: it's by far the best moisturiser I've ever used, far more effective than man made ones.

Hewie you CAN do it. Do not eat with any distractions, no tv, no radio, no books or PC. Sit down at the table to eat, doesn't matter what it is. Have a sign on your table reminding you to stop and think. Ask yourself if you're really hungry or just want to change the way you feel. It might help to keep written reminders around the house of what you're going to achieve eg look great on the beach or round the pool, look sexy in your shorts that sort of thing. Good luck xxx

    Morning all,

Well done on the exercise and weight loss, am very impressed :T

Just a quick one today as have very little to report, my week has basically consisted of get up, go to work, come home, have my tea, edit until about midnight, go to bed. Have also only seen OH for about 10 mins all week as he's shooting every day from 4pm until about midnight so I'm usually asleep by the time he gets home. So am feeling a bit tired and frazzled :( Have come to the conclusion that the bride, despite constantly going on about how much she's into photography, is actually just a point and clicker who has no idea how much after work goes into decent piccies, as she's been messaging me pretty much every day asking when they'll be ready. Have told her Monday now, might have been sooner but can't be bothered going over there at weekend now and she lives near my work. Got them basically finished last night but will go through them at weekend and do some final tweaks, probably do a few b+w/effects etc. Also have to try and get my story finished as haven't had time to look at it this week and wanted to have it finished this weekend so I could edit next week - and don't get me started on the state of the house :rotfl:

Just a quickie as I'm really busy today - mad day at work, frantic dog walking and its yr 11 prom tonight and I have to be out again all glammed up by 6.30:eek:

The good news is that I've lost 2lbs:j:j
That's 5 lbs in the past few weeks now - slow and steady but my shape is definitely changing more than my weight, must be the exercise.
If you look at it in the context of wanting to lose a stone I'm just over a third of the way there:rotfl:

    Double ditto here.

I feel like having a rant and a right old moan - but I'm not sure I have the energy. :o

I know that this makes me sound awful but I am just so fed up with visiting nursing homes and hospitals, trying to look after OH's best interests and trying to organise my dad.

My mum is coming out of hospital today. I have been trying to get my dad to sort things out. I looked in the fridge, freezer and cupboards - and there's nothing there. This was after he'd "done the shopping". God knows what they are going to eat, he can't cook and Mum is no longer safe in the kitchen. Everything I do or try or suggests gets thrown back at me.

He clearly cannot cope but goes into a blind fury when my sister and I try to organise anything. He has already had several major strops with the hospital and mum's medical team and I just know that he will be totally unco-operative with the carers. He has no idea what is about to hit him.

I would love to see what's written on the case notes. I can see it now - "awkward, uncooperative, unstable". I've tried to warn him that he has to "play the game" and co-operate or Mum will have to go into care but he will not listen to reason. Oh well I guess there's not much else my sister and I can do.

Yesterday, I spent some time re-organising their bedroom and lounge so Mum can at least get round with a zimmer frame. Like many elderly people's houses - it's so full of clutter there's not enough room to a swing a cat - let alone zimmer frames, commodes and the like.

I'm exhausted and I look really pale and washed out. The garden is a jungle and the house is a shambles. I need to go to the supermarket but can't face it. I feel old, bored and thoroughly cheesed off.

And I am just fed up, fed up, fed up.

Sorry - I'll get me coat.

You're all shaming me with your exercise and healthy eating- I just feel like going to bed and hiding under the duvet. I won't of course. I'll be good and go and have a potter in the garden for an hour. The fresh air might perk me up.

Hopefully I will feel in a sweeter frame of mind tomorrow. I might need a glass or two of something tonight though. :rotfl:
