Lizzie - whereabouts are you (obviously fairly vaguely
) maybe there are people nearby-ish who might know of things. Also, I've heard that the Wii scales can be a bit unreliable and very up and down so might not be as bad as you think x
I'm in the midlands near the peak district. The problem is mostly funds -anything I do has to be fairly near as I can't afford costly bus fares on top of the cost of the activity. So its really got to be in my nearest town. This obviously makes it more difficult to find anything but that's just how things are just now.
Have measured myself this morning( thanks madrabbitgirl) and will now skip the weighing bit on the wii and measure myself in say a month and take it from there.
Have just done a bit of stretching this morning as I don't want to overdo it and be back to square 1.
Have begun reading ' feel the fear and do it anyway' this morning. May have a look at those books you've recommended LL- I'm open to any ways of improving my life.
Received a sample of L'oreal BB cream am going to try it later.
Have a good day everyoneFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Afternoon all!
Sports Day at school today - lots of 15 yr old girls very reluctantly trudging around the track and boys strutting their stuff like peacocks - the hormones were rampant! (Theirs not mine!
At least it stayed dry and we all got a good 4 hours of fresh air (even if we didn't want it!)
Food has been good so far today - I think its all definitely about planning. I take everything I'm going to eat with me and stick to it. The evenings are the sticking point where I'm battling myself. I have a good tea and then around 9pm habit is making me have that internal tussle with myself - I'm not hungry but could eat for the sake of it. Not doing too badly though. Weigh in on Friday so only time will tell.
The leg feels much better today so I think I'll do a DVD later (just back from dogwalking) for at least 30mins. I've had Mon and Tues off so should do something before that gets a habit again.
INSET for the next 2 days so fairly easy at work and then its only 2 weeks to the big hols - approaching fast:T
I need to do a bit of maintainance fabbing tonight - defuzz, face scrub, nails - all done in the bath later.0 -

Lizzie - been thinking - just a couple of ideas.
I'm in the E. Midlands, on the edge of the Peak District - Derby - county town now city and all that. I'm on the south side of Derby - if you are on the north what about rail links. Are you near the Derby/Duffield/Cromford/Belper/Matlock line. The trains run frequently - no idea about fares though.
Do you not drive at all Lizzie, how about a little moped/scooter thingy - although maybe not ideal for Derbyshire winters.
Are you near to a library. They usually have lists of groups/clubs. If you rang the organiser of the group you fancy there might be someone who lived near to you who you could car share with, just making a contribution towards the petrol perhaps.
I know you have school age children - are you fairly near the school, do they do anything. When my two were little I got roped into all sorts of things at school, when they moved up to the seniors I sat on the PTA - got to know loads of people and got involved in all the fund raising and social activities.
The other thing is when they were boys they both played in the local football teams, in fact OH was the under 7's manager. His old boys still call him "Uncle Bob". The football club were always doing loads of stuff - social things to raise funds.
We first moved here over 22 years ago - it was much smaller then and there was very little to do apart from pubs. Over the years all sorts of groups and clubs have grown up, Football, History Club, Judo, Am-Dram, Rambling, Bridge, Residents Association, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Scouts, WI, Slimming Clubs, PTA's for both primary and secondary schools and now the new book group and choir, plus all the usual church stuff.
Mostly it's all been done by the locals themselves, parents just saw a need for things and started an appropriate club.
Are there any mums/neighbours you could get together with and start something.0 -
LL - well done on joining a choir, it sounds like you had fun! I have no musical ability (which is apparently odd as I speak French and German and apparently music and languages tend to go together)! I was once asked who I would choose to be if I could be reincarnated as anyone else and I answered that I would be myself but with singing ability.
Lizzie - are you close to Leek? There are a few choirs there, I think they meet at church but are community choirs rather than church ones if that makes a difference.
I am quite pleased with my efforts towards my goals so far. I have now done week 1, run 2 of C25K and run 3 will be tomorrow. For anyone trying couch to 5k, the podcasts really help with the intervals.
I have also started eating breakfast. Ok, I didn't manage it today as I was running late but I've done 3 days and will do so again tomorrow.
I'm not keeping up with regular fabbing though and I'm not sure why so have to have a think there. I've had a reaction to a mosquito bite (again ) so am a bit cautious of using body lotion or anything until its settled down.0 -

Where do you get the podcasts from? Sorry for being such a clueless technophobe! Do you run along to them? That may keep me going rather than having to do it by myself.
Just done 3x 10 min sessions of the 10 Min Solution Blast Off Belly Fat DVD. Some of the moves were really hard! Will need some practice I think - could feel them working though. I will need to do some cardio too though - think this is good for sculpting and toning but need something to burn off calories too.
I've decided to go swimming straight from school tomorrow as we start and finish an hour earlier than normal.0 -
Week 2 of 6 week 6 pack but only 1st one this week due to cardio blast on Mon and run on Tues and this tonight, plus one more tomorrow
Going well so far and I can feel my arms toning up more which is nice
RE: Couch25k - This was the programme I used to start running again after almost 10yrs off. You can download it from itunes for free or from nhs choices onto your ipod. It is a really good way to start running literally from sitting on the couch to running 5k (3.1miles) in 6-8 weeks. It worked a treat for me and was the springboard to get to 10k and then half marathon. I started it exactly 2yrs ago and within 2mths I could run the distance from not being able to run across the road!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Hi WW, I downloaded the app from itunes and you use the app to follow your progress. It knows I'm on week 1 so tells me when to jog and when to walk. There are some podcasts that have music as well but I use songs I like at the moment.
Fedupandskint - I have tried running a few times but always get annoyed when I can't get very far so give up. I thought I'd try this way as you only jog for a minute before a brisk walk and that goes up gradually so hoping I get fitter as I get further into it. I already managed to run further yesterday than Saturday so am happy with that.0 -
Thanks Sparkles and Heebies- have just downloaded weeks 1,2,and 3 onto the iPod. So its 3 times a week at each download/level?
May even go and have a go after Corrie! Its a nice night and the dog could do with another run around. Will report back later......0 -
Thats right 3 times a week
Try it like this run one day then have a day off and continue like that - it worked a treat for me!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Trudges panting into the room...... I did it! Week One Day One completed. I thought I'd find it harder (not that it was easy!) but I eventually found a rhythm and managed it.
I did it with the dog on the lead (who can run faster and further than me!) and he's pooped now! Did get a few strange looks in the park though shouting encouragement to the dog "last time - keep going!" (think it was for me not the dog!).
Will definitely do it again - maybe Friday.0
