WW well done on the running.:j
PP hope you are feeling better. I too am not feeling v. fab. Have let things slip a bit that had become routine due to feeling washed out, and still haven't managed to get rid of my cold. Thank goodness I don't get them very often. I can only conclude that I must be/have been run down as usually colds don't take hold.

BITSY glad you had a good hol.
Sorry about your OH but hopefully he'll find something soon.

Hugs to anyone that needs them.

Raining here too! Will be off for a wet dog walk in a while. Then it's off shopping with DD2, she's asked for some concealer. As she's nearly a teenager she's begun to get oily skin ad a few blackheads and spots not made any better by the fact she's sometimes a stranger to washing her face. :rotfl:
    Have a good day all.:)

    Morning all,

Alja - well done on the treadmill - great start :)

LL - that's why I try to stay strictly on the other side of the camera :o I do think your skin does reflect it if you're feeling a little run down/out of sorts - noticed a few mini-spots yesterday that are probably a sign that I've been slacking with the healthy eating, been drinking less water and generally being lazy :(

Bitsy - glad to hear the holiday was good but sorry about your OH being finished early :( I suppose the payout is something, takes a little bit of the pressure off while he finds something else. Think the bodyboard is a great goal to aim for :)

Lizzie - sorry you're still under the weather as well - it does seem to hanging in there doesn't it? :( I think you might be right about being a bit run down and it digging in! Just annoying me that it seems to zap all my energy, have hardly got anything done since I got it. Had to laugh at DD, I remember that stage well :rotfl:could you steer towards a facial wash or something as well as the concealers?

Had choir last night, which was fun, though had to pass on drinks afterwards to get my last wedding piccies finished. Anyway they're done and will post out this morning. Bit annoyed as I had emailed a few people yesterday about jobs and then found out last night that my website isn't working right  Have emailed them last night but am rather annoyed that it's probably cost me business. I do use one of the cheap/free ones and it seems a sad case of 'you get what you pay for' - unfortunately can't afford to pay for much more at the moment!

Just a quickie to say to Bitsy - so sorry to hear about your OH. At least he's got a little lump sum to help out. Hope things pan out for you.

I've been thinking about my boys and their jobs. DS1 is thinking of coming back here for a while to save for a house deposit. I think his job is reasonably secure. He works in alternative energy research. The firm is doing well and surely this is one area that a govt would need to bail out if necessary. Future energy security has to be one of our top priorities.

I do wonder about DS2 though. He works in a garden centre. I visited it yesterday. It is very expensive, a lot of what I what deem luxury items and so really comes under the category of discretionary spending. I'm not at all confident about his future job security. Apparently figures are down. At least his is studying for his electrical engineer's qualification so hopefully long term he will be more secure.

Oh dear on that cheerful note, I'm off to brave the rain and visit OH.

    It's a filthy day here.:(

OMG! You'll never guess what just happened!

I was quite happily minding my own business, ploughing up and down the swimming pool when a lady that I'm sort of on nodding terms with burst out laughing and said "look at that pillock over there!". I turned to see, to my horror, my ex husband in an olympic style all in one black swimsuit (with arms and legs:rotfl:) flapping up and down the pool like a dying fly. I nearly blo*dy drowned! I haven't clapped eyes on him for over a year (since we separated, divorce was done by email would you believe) and he'd moved away to the other side of the city, the first time I see him he looks like a bald, podgy bellied laughing stock - all he needed were flippers and a snorkel:rotfl:
I told the lady who he was and she was horrified and said "good job you've got rid of that , you're so much better than that" (bless her).
Now, thankfully I'm thinner and more tanned than the last time I saw him but I still waited until he was up the other end and then leapt out (I had finished my mile by then) and dove straight into the changing rooms, had the quickest shower ever and ran from the building before he emerged, pathetic I know:o

What a lucky escape - I could still be married to that:eek:
Off for a lie down in a darkened room.......

PS Bitsy - sorry to hear about your husband's job. Fingers crossed he gets something suited to him soon. xxx
  • WW - your post made me laugh! Its not pathetic not wanting them to see you but look how far you've come in the past year! We've all hidden from Ex's when bumped into them believe me! Anyway it's his lose!

Another boring day in the office with not enough work and they don't know if they can pay us Friday, grrrrr it's already been a 5 week pay month. I even brought my knitting just in case I could get away with doing it! Might take some explaining but it is for a pregnant colleague due in 5 weeks.

What an absolute plonker he sounds!! Do you think it was just coincidence he was there or has he heard about the new, fit you? Glad you managed to escape unseen.

Sorry to hear about OH's job bitsy. I do admire your ambition to get back to the bodyboarding. A very unusual incentive but a fantastic one. Keep us posted on your plans.

In the Aldi serum debate: I use their day cream regularly. I find it suits me better than many more expensive brands. Recently I used up a Body Shop Vitamin E moisturiser as hand cream as it wasn't rich enough and left my face feeling tight. The good thing about Aldi is that it's cheap enough that if it doesn't suit your face you can use it up as a hand/body lotion without breaking the bank. I have used the serum and I liked it but got annoyed when the pump action failed long before I got to the bottom of the bottle. Anyone else have that problem or was I just unlucky?

I had a day out in London yesterday. Very lucky with weather. We quite enjoyed it but it was all about pleasing family (Science Museum/Hamleys etc). Promising myself a day out with DH so we can please ourselves.:) Very miserable day here today. DH is out helping a friend with DIY. I'm wrapped up like it's winter. I'm planning a roast dinner later. partly to cheer us up and partly because I think we never have enough veggies when we eat out (like yesterday).

Sorry to hear about your OHs job Bitsy.

WW your post really made me laugh! Sounds like you are soooo much better off.

Fabbing for me today - extra long lie in bed after an extra early night last night. Had Drs appt today and have been put on tablets for high BP. It has been coming for a while. I get my BP checked regularly due to medication I am taking whch has the side effect of inceasing BP, however my weight doesn't help either. Since I can't come off the meds I need to lose weight so no more messing around with it. I need to get serious here. Had a swim today - was surprised how hard I found it (I used to work as a Lifeguard for goodness sake!) so need to up my activity levels and ditch the cr*p foodwise.

Planning another swim tomorrow but adding on an extra 10 lengths and a walk (hopefully the weather will be kind).

oh no WW!! i'd have ran away too! at least now you can see hes not faring nearly as well as you!

my skincare routine has slightly changed, my testing pack for the green beauty bible came through today! luckily they have sent me 3 products i already consider holy grails including my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish so its not a complete overhaul! got a new Korres day cream and Aubrey night cream. also got a new aubrey mask to try out, a stash of my holy grail Liz Earle eyebright, my Holy grail bare minerals foundation and another susan posnick one that is supposedly £41! got an organic mascara to try but apparently the "proper" organic ones are pretty much all a waste of time atm and mahoosive bottles of shampoo and conditioner. not bad for £30 :rotfl:

OOoh, can I pick your brain about treadmills? I am saving up for one as I feel so much better when I exercise, but with two kids and a part time job (sometimes more like full time) and rotten weather some days I just can't get out....when I don't exercise I feel rubbish and tbh get quite depressed :o I've been looking at all sorts, from electric to manuals, and the one I like best is £300 ish...can I ask what you use and if you have any advice prease :)

:j:j:jAnd well done on the mile :j:j:j

Thank you! I live at home still so it was my mum who picked it out...however, I do know it is an Everlast one! It's electric and has a calorie counter, mileage counter (in km), pulse measurer, several different 'modes' to try, plus it has speakers so you can connect it to a music device to play music through it. I do believe after having a little look online that it is this one...

This one is £299.99 and we've had no problems with it :) I usually just chuck on the radio and sing along to it to keep me going or put on an upbeat CD in the background to keep me going! Hope this helps :)
