    Well done Sparkles!

Hewie - we are our own worst critics, I'm sure you're not half as bad as you think you are. Its been proven that women have a distorted body image and see themselves as bigger than they really are. Have a hug anyway xx

Just back from the Spice walk and yet again a thoroughly good time was had. I'm starting to see a few people at events that I've met before and still meeting lots of varied people that I wouldn't normally socialise with but who turn out to be very good company. Good exercise and good fun - we actually got chased by cows:rotfl:
Doing another evening one next week so will see some of the same faces again, we're starting to build fledgling friendships.
I've found that its actually encouraged me to get in touch with my existing friends and acquaintances (sp?) too - my social life is now busier than its ever been:beer: Just took a little kick in the right direction.;)

I realised tonight as I was tramping through cow pats that I'm happier than I've been in years - yes, I'm older and have hit the big 4-0, I may be a bit wrinklier and saggier, and I may have less money than before but I finally feel like a happy, healthy confident grown up.:)

Bl00dy computer!!! Just lost my post.

Hewie ((hugs)) try not to be too hard on yourself. Hope you feel brighter soon.
Did manage to do my couch to 5k today (more fast walking/jogging than running) but hey I'm having a go.:o Weather here a bit cloudy so less intense heatwise which is better for me as like you Bitsy I'm not very good when it's so hot.
Had my interview today at the jobcentre. Not sure how useful it's going to be as much of what was suggested ie: help with cv, computer skills, I don't really need as I can already do. I was offered a course with these together with interview skills, confidence building and a work placement for 4 weeks at the end of it. I explained I have registered for voluntary work but as yet haven't heard anything and was told that's a good way to get into workplace too. She did seem a bit naive when I said if I could get enough hours although I wouldn't want to do it forever I'd do cleaning or consider anything, suggesting I should be aiming higher. Well that's all well and good but as my son is testament to even having a degree doesn't guarantee you a good job and I think that you need to be flexible now. She didn't seem to get it at all. She did say that I can say no and just try and sort myself out but I've got another appointment with someone else so I'll take it from there. At least she wasn't one of these that think they are paying you out of their own pocket. Anyway it's something to think about.

Ladies, off on my jollies today (if I ever manage to get prepared!!!) I shan't have any Internet for about 10 days! So keep on fabbing, I am still sticking to my NoS Diet whilst I am away. In previous holidays I tend think I ought to be able to eat everything in sight. No more. So have packed my emery boards, nail buffer, nail polish and remover. No excuse for no fabbing on holiday ;)

Hugs and high fives all round. Keep up the good work :D

Eta sparkles well done on passing your assignment x

Bitsy - have a brilliant holiday - I hope the weather holds for you.

Lizzie - well done on the jogging, it does get a bit easier as the weeks go by (then they flipping double the time you run for and it gets harder again:mad:). Good for you for suggesting to the job centre that you're prepared to try anything short term, there are so many people that just won't and have unrealsitic expectations. Good luck with it all.:T

I've woken up to a dull cooler day, back to normal weather wise here. Not got anything exciting planned for today so I have to find things to do to fill the day.

Its swimming day so I'll toddle off to the pool at some point and do my 50 lengths and I think I'll walk the dog around the waterpark for a change of scene (its a bit cooler so the longer distance will be ok for him today).
Other than that, I need to mow the back lawn (not fun with hayfever) and clean the bathrooms. I may get around to touching up some scuffs on the paintwork in the hall too. And as an extra special effort, I'll try to finish a bit more 6th form work for the new term - the most prepared I'll ever be in advance!

ETA - forgot to add my little victory for today - I remembered that as of Sept's pay day I get a payrise - hurrah! Had completely forgotten about moving up the pay scale with every year of service. Its only about £100 extra take home a month but better than a kick in the teeth!
  • Just a quick post! Yesterdays little victories:
1.fabbed up my white brick fireplace and the wall above it with a fresh lick of paint. Sorry, I'm afraid it is bricked up but was done so long before we moved here but I quite like it actually and use it to display ornaments/candles which get changed around depending on my mood/the seasons. I have a bit of a fear of fire (but love candles bizarrely!) and would not be able to have a real fire. I think a fresh lick of paint has made a real difference to the front room, it's looking a lot brighter (and less grubby!).
    2. Stayed in a cheerful mood.:)

Have the dentist soon, wish me luck! :)

    Have a fab day! :)

I have a heavy cold and have been feeling quite sorry for myself but have tried to keep up with the fabbing.

Went to gym on Monday, went on crosstrainer last night. Also this week I have defuzzed, painted my toe nails and continued to take my vitamins.

Hoping to shake this cold soon, I am not going to let it ruin my weekend.

    Hi all,

WW - the social life sounds busy :) and you're being very organised with the work plans - and here's me thinking teachers just sat round doing nothing all summer :rotfl:

Lizzie - I do think sometimes that people at the jobcentre don't have the slighest clue what it's like to be actually out there looking - I know when I was going they would offer naive and often ridiculous suggestions every week. I would love to see something like a reality tv programme where they actually had to go out and find a job then they might see that it's not for lack of looking that most people are there.

Sparkles - well done on passing the assignment :j

Madrabbitgirl - good luck with the dentist x

Tracey - hope you feel better soon

Feel like I have very little to report this week as my days seem to have consisted of 'go to work, get home, do more work, go to bed,' am getting a bit fed up now! Still, managed to get a set of wedding photos finished last now so OH has posted them out for me this morning - one thing down. Am going to have to spend tonight checking/sorting out his assignment as it's due in tomorrow - it's already a resit and while I probably shouldn't be helping as much as I do then I'm not having him fail what should be a technical/practical course because he can't write an essay! I only have one wedding set left to edit though - and it's partly done already - am doing a few studio portrait sessions on Saturday, but they won't need as much after-work so hoping won't be as manic next week. My family is coming to stay next weekend though, so not much time for rest when I need to get the spare room sorted and house tidied for them. Will be good to see them though :)

Thank you for all the well dones and congratulations about the assignment - I'm still smiling away about it!

Also to go along with that - WI day today and discovered I've lost 3lb taking almost back to where I was a few weeks ago. A good surprise there!

Certainly feeling upbeat about things now!

    Bitsy have a good hollibobs

What else? - Shred later on today and usual dog walk then leftovers for tea, ironing for half an hour and write shopping list for tomorrow. Quick clean of the bathroom too as have washed all bathmats and shower curtains today

Have a good day one and all x

  • Tracey- hope you aren't feeling too poorly. :(

Podperson - Try to squeeze in some time for yourself! :)

Fedupandskint - Well done on the weight loss!

Felt a bit woozy after coming out of the dentists (I think from the injection they gave me to numb my face) and my face felt very numb from my mouth up to my eyebrow. They took a molding of my mouth so they can get my bridge made up and prepared my tooth next to it (they are going to incorporate an existing filling in that tooth into the bridge so that it will be more long lasting). They also cleaned my teeth up for me. Felt a slight panic coming on when I had the molding in my mouth but managed to get through it! Apparently they'd had several people fainting this morning (the heat probably doesn't help) and someone throwing up, so I think I did ok! Another appointment in 2 weeks.

Wasn't feeling great when I got home so had a bit of a lay down and haven't done much else today to be honest but there is still this evening to come!

Well done on the dentist MRG - not the most pleasant way to spend the day.

Well, I didn't manage swimming today after my hour long water park yomp and doing boths lawns and a general garden tidy up. Legs felt tired so thought it best to leave it until tomorrow. Did walk the dog again for half an hour though.

I did another marathon work session this afternoon (about 4 hours) and that means that all of the 6th form stuff is ready to use from now until well beyond Xmas:T It was quite boring stuff (health and safety legislation in the scientific workplace:eek:) but it has to be done and now its over:j
I'll tackle some special needs science lessons next - the other end of the work spectrum (and to be honest much more fun), that will be another day though.

I've just booked another evening walk with Spice too as yesterday's was such good fun and exercise - I had a credit note from a cancellation and so it only cost £1.50;) A bargain for a good night out.
I'm also meeting a work friend for a wander in the countryside and a coffee and cake in a nice little teashop tomorrow afternoon - she's a bit of a jekyll and hyde type, one minute the funniest person in the world and the next moaning about her husband, weight, work etc. Lets hope that the fun friend turns up. Nothing that a bit of fresh air and a cake can't cure (at least temporarily).

And I'm finally getting interested in the Olympics - its taken a while but I'm quite looking forward to the sport starting. Anyone else feel the same?

Right I'm off to read my book in the bath for half an hour - hope everyone has a good evening.
