LL - hope the kitchen's looking good :) Don't envy you on Monday, have been running all day trying to get anywhere with Student Finance - have put a formal complaint in, sent to my MP, have a union woman helping with it - really don't know what else I can do! It's weird one of the films me and OH had to watch for his essay was called Brazil - 80s film about a futuristic society controlled by bureacracy where nothing gets done it just gets passed around and drowned in paperwork and no one gives a cack about the people it's just about the rules and regulations - was thinking it doesn't seem like we're that bleeding far off it some days!

maman - outfits sound really nice, like you I find 'smart casual' is the hardest look to pull off but sounds like you've got it covered :)

    tracey - glad you're feeling a bit better x

Am thinking I might have a night off tonight  only got one wedding to get finished off and she's not pushing for it, some stuff to be done by Tuesday but I do have most of the weekend to do it. Not sure what I would do with myself though :rotfl:
  • I'm not really interested in the Olympics at all I'm afraid. I'm not really a sports fan (which is probably why I find it difficult to get enthusiastic about exercise!). I'm slightly concerned but the disruption it will cause to traffic e.t.c...My partner works near London and also there is a cycling event not too far from us so we are bound to be caught up in some of it. I will probably watch bits of it (I'm not sure I will have much of a choice, everyone seems so enthusiastic about it!).

Yesterday evening I did my exercise, touched up the colour in my hair, got my clothes ready for today and painted my fingernails (sparkly pink/sliver). :)

I have had a busy day at work today. I plan on getting some more exercise done in a bit and then think about some of my other targets.

Mini Victory for today: I was on time for work this morning! :)

Maman - I know what you mean about work clothes being a kind of uniform. I have to wear suits/business dress which is quite easy to buy/wear and not think too much to think about. Its casual smart that is more difficult for me but I think I've improved enormously over recent months with different colours and styles etc.
My effort this afternoon actually looked ok in the end and my friend commented on how nice I looked (and that I'd lost weight - hurrah!). I wore a midnight blue Tshirt with frilly sleeves, a scoop neck and a white rose things embroidered around the neck with dark blue slim fit jeans and a blue and silver necklace with matching bangle. All with very glam walking shoes:rotfl: From the feet up I looked quite nice I suppose!

We walked for 3 hours with a 30 min stop for a diet coke ina country pub - no cakes:( Friend was on a diet again, was looking forward to a treat too.
We've arranged another walk for next Friday weather permitting.

All that fresh air has made me very hungry though - need to make something before I start eating biscuits......

Sorry folks abscent for a few days. Busy days trying to catch up on things. Spent yesterday chasing Social services after having to clean part of one of the twins house. I wont bore you with the details but it was a long long day, and an exhausting day, just cleaning her kitchen sink and the dishes. I just had enough energy to make myself change into a nice frock in the evening, and make myself look a bit better.
I had my hair done on Wednesday as usual.
today I had to take DGD to get her hair cut, so I had 6 mins in the suntanning booth. To keep me topped up.
I intend to have a nice tan before I go on holiday at end of August so I am not a white milk bottle on the beach out there!.
I also had my eyebrows done on Wednesday. Thats a first. Well waxing anyway. I had them shaped on my 50th birthday when Molly and i went away to Ragdale Hall. Which was expensive and I didnt see any difference! mmm this was only £8 and then I had a £5 voucher off as my birthday present from the girl anyway. So things really are on my mind for taking care of myself.
I went to my daughter at 7.10 am this morning, and I had on a gingham dress, that I bought in the Charity shop, £1.50 and a pair of silver flat sandals, and a white belt on.
She said I looked lovely. At that time of the morning. I was thrilled.
I shall need to wash my hair in the morning early, before I go to the First Aid Course I am on. so it wont be straightened thats for sure!. Oh well.
Maybe next will be to aim for a manacure/pedicure one day.
But I dont have the money at the moment. Long story.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

    How nice - WW

As for me my mini victory today was completing Shred for 5 days in a row this week. A well deserved day off tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a trip to see mum and have a pootle around the shops in the sales and a nice TV watch of the Olympics which I can't wait for to start! I love sport full stop and love the Olympics in particular to see the sports not usually on TV.

As a treat for passing my final assignment this week I treated myself to the next boxset of Killer Buns and Thighs and Ripped in 30 which I am looking forward to starting once Shred is completed in about 2 weeks time.

Sunday will make it out for a bike ride either at home or away depending on the weather.

Right then I will fab myself up tomorrow when visiting mum in some of my new clothes - will either be a long maxi skirt or my palazzo trousers (not mega wide ones) and a nice plain top with some fresh looking make up - I hope!

    Hi all

Glad to say DD is feeling better today and has had a very good day, she has been tie dying her clothes with a friend and they have been out and had a water fight and just had some fun, which she wanted to do.

PP Thanks for the duvet day advice, hubby is on lates this week so he is at home til lunch time and he's just as a big a kid as the kids, DD and DS are on their own for 1.5 hours before I get back but DS is 15. Next week DD has the grandparents looking after her so no doubt will spoil her. Its just hard in the hols to keep them busy all the time.

Just sitting down to watch the build up to the olympics, looking forward to the opening ceremony not sure if I can stay awake till the end though.

    Have a good evening all - tomorrow's saturday yeah:j

Bit tired this morning due to staying up to watch the ceremony - it was fab - funny, spectacular, surreal and very clever - good old Queenie!!! She has a sense of humour! Well done Danny Boyle!
A very British affair with the Arctic Monkeys and Dizzy Rascal - contemporary and not some old stuffy blokes in suits. Loved it! Not sure what some of the rest of the world will think though - will they get it?:rotfl:

Not got a lot planned for today - will do the Couch to 5K week 4 run at some point, dog walking and do a bit of housework and, of course, watch the Olympics, cycling and swimming seem to be the highlights today.
Fab wise I still need to dye my hair - have put it off and put it off but I now look like a skunk with a white stripe so it needs doing.

Hope everyone has a good day xx

ETA - for anyone thats interested in finding out what's on and when here's the website with the schedule - click on each day to find out which sports are on and then click on the sport to find out which event is happening and when the finals are - looks very good

    Brilliant!!!!!!

sorry I don't agree, I 'm not a sports fan anyway but I just felt they were celebrating things about this country that the 'elite' normally despise. I did enjoy the music section thought again though Dizzy's singing about being free which I think is ironic. We turned it over after the music.
