Good Morning Everyone
Welcome Djenks - great capsule wardrobe.
Had a lovely weekend but today I am exhausted. OH home for the day yesterday - both boys here to help but it was incredibly tiring. The new wheelchair is very comfortable for him but is not easy to manage in this house. I know exactly what is needed in the new house - wide corridors, no steps, easy access.
Well I'm ashamed to say I still haven't managed to start walking - definitely today. I'm also ashamed to say I still havent had the courage to face my father since the major upset.
I had planned to go today but my stomach just turns somersaults at the thought of it so I shall leave it for now.
I know it makes me a coward but I've had a couple of mild panic attacks over the weekend so I'm just not going to lay myself open to another onslaught at the moment.
Obviously if there is an emergency then I will go running. However, if he is so adamant he can cope and all I do is wrong then I'm just going to keep my distance.
I have a meeting with ATOS next Monday and I just need to try and keep calm and have my wits about me for that. I can guess the outcome - it's such a farce really.
So ladies - this week I'm going to be a bit selfish.............
The sun is shining and set fair for a few days - I'm just going to relax and enjoy it.I'm a mass of aches and pains so I'm going to soak up those rays and see if I can loosen those muscles and ease the kinks.
I have the joiner coming on Friday and need to sort out the cupboards but I can pace myself and do a bit at a time.
I'm just off to the supermarket before it gets hot and busy, going to stock up on some nice healthy fruit and veg.
Maman - what is your "serious" book - I'm intrigued. I have just read "My Dear I Wanted to Tell You" by Louisa Young for the book group. Not what I would have chosen - World War I love story - but I quite enjoyed it. The beauty of the book group is it does introduce you to new authors and ideas.
Buy Oh Joy I have just started book one in the "Game of Thrones" saga - a sort of Lord of the Rings/Norse Myths/Decline of the Roman Empire. Sounds heavy going but it's very well written and there is a lot of humour - albeit some of the humour is quite dark.
It's got the lot, murder and mayhem, sword and sorcery, myths and legends, political machinations. I loved the TV adaptation but as is usual with these things - the books are far better.
Because I have seen the TV series I'm not desperately rushing through the book to find out what happens next. I'm just taking it very leisurely and savouring every page. There are several books in the series so I shall be kept happily engaged book wise for the summer.
My DS1 fixed the multi-gym yesterday and straightened up the garage so that I can now reach the gym and the exercise bike easily.
So today it begins - a walk and some time in my home gym. Slowly and gently to begin with as per Sparkle's wise advice.
Sparkles what you said about your mum was very inspiring - I'm just hoping I can emulate her.
Time to get dressed and get cracking - going to give those white jeans another airing whilst the sun is out.:D0 -
Not sure why but I have that anxious feeling in my stomach again this morning. Haven't felt like this for weeks/ months but for some reason it's back. Need to do some exercise and perhaps read a bit of 'feel the fear', perhaps a bit of mindful time and see if I can get rid of it. Not feeling good at all.
Post crossed. Sorry to hear this - tbh this is exactly what I'm going through at the moment.
It's funny isn't it. I've been fine for weeks and then wham, from nowhere, all those panicky thoughts, tummy in knots, aches and pains - it all comes rushing back.
I don't know any easy answers. For me I just grit my teeth, head down and push through it. Oh ....and avoid my father. :rotfl:
Isn't it ridiculous - a 61 year old has to do that for self preservation.0 -
Sorry you're not feeling too good Lizzie and LL. I sometimes feel a bit panicky after I've visited my parents. At the moment they are blaming me for not letting them move out of sheltered but it's now in the hands of the social worker. Went to Cardiff at the weekends to see DH's parents who are both in the early stages of Altzimers, so bit of a busman's holiday! Anyway it as a change to go somewhere different and the weather was lovely.0

Yesterday was my birthday, and I wanted to be all fab, except my meds decided to choose the day to attack my stomach again, so I spent the day either being sick, or curled up in a ball. But as the sun was out, at least I could lie down in the garden!
So the bonus is I caught some sun, so even if I feel pasty and grey, at least I dont look it.
I was in bed as soon as DGD was at 7.30 last night. I still struggled to be up this morning around 8am! I feel I could easily go back to sleep but obviously with her around I cannnot. This is the start of the summer holidays too! eek.
I am just wearing a strappy Tshirt and shorts. The fabbing will have to wait.
I have managed a piece of toast and a cup of tea, but havent taken any of my meds for 24 hours, so struggling.
Rest is all I can do.
Should be chasing funds etc but not got the energy. Maybe tomorrow. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Oh that's amazing. My family on my mother's side hailed from Oxwich, were in service at Penrice Castle back in the day. I just love that area. And I knew it before Catherine Zeta Jones decided to get married in the church!!
Funnily enough LL, my white jeans got an airing yesterday too!!:rotfl:It was because I thought I should put proper shoes on to go for a walk which would have looked daft with a sun dress.
I'm reading Chavs - the demonisation of the Working Classes by Owen Jones. Quite an opinionated young man with tunnel vision for his own view of the world but I have only read 40 pages so maybe he'll change! I am quite a political animal so it suits me. It's as well we're all different as I would hate Lord of the Rings type books whereas my DD2 really loves them.
I think you're being wise to keep calm after the weekend. Don't feel guilty about your dad. I'm sure your sister is keeping you up to speed with any developments. You can visit when you're feeling stronger.
Not a lot planned today. I'll definitely manage a walk and some more reading but other than basic washing and cooking my plan is to enjoy the weather.0 -
Hugs Lizzie and LL and Mooloo you poor thing
that's no way to celebrate a birthday xxxx
:bdaycake: for you xxxxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Oh that's amazing.

I read Chavs some time ago. Like you I found the young man's views to be rather simplistic.
Actually Game of Thrones is definitely for grown-ups, unlike Lord of the Rings which is perhaps geared more to a child/teen/geek audience. The political stuff is positively Machievellian. Although set in a pretend country which is essentially medieaval the examinations of political leadership/kingship, the comprises that have to be made in order to ensure stability etc are just as relevant today. Oooh get me getting all intellectual:rotfl:
Actually had quite a good discussion with DS1 last night about the latest Batman movie. Oddly enough I watched Dark Knight on Saturday in preparation for my visit to see the latest Batman.
I mentioned to DS1 (who has already seen it) that I had read a very interesting review about both the latest Batman and Timon of Athens (one of Shakespeares less popular plays which basically deals with the fall of democracy).
Both are bang up to date with the current political and economic situations and take a very hard look at the damage that rampant global capitalism has caused in recent years and the ramifications of what could happen within the next few years. Fascinating stuff.
Anyway I digress - just wanted to wish Mooloo a very happy belated birthday. Sorry it was spoilt. Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Hi all,
Lizzie - hope you're ok hun, thinking about you x
Mooloo - sorry your birthday wasn't too great, hope you feel better soon
LL - there is nothing wrong with taking a bit of you time, you'll be no good to anyone if you make yourself ill doing too much. I loved the Game of Thrones books, really well written, and the tv series was a good adaptation. I actually have most of the second series downloaded, just haven't had time to watch them yet
Haven't been online that much over the weekend, so apologies there are too many posts to comment on everyone - but glad some of you managed to get out and about with a bit of sunshine this weekendI've trying to get caught up on some work so am not doing too badly with the photos now - but OH has an essay due on Friday that he needs me to help him with so that will probably be most of my week gone.
I did manage to take a bit of time out yesterday though - met up with someone from my last writing course for a coffee and a chat. Was nice to be able to talk writing with someone - was a little worried as a few of us were meant to go and then some dropped out so ended up just the two of us but she was lovely and we really got on. Then in the evening went to a meetup with my film group to watch the Muppetsjust what I needed actually, something with a feelgood factor.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day x0 -

We watch the Muppet's Christmas Movie every year as part of our December Christmas Movie Season.:rotfl:
We start at the beginning of December and watch all our favourite Christmas films in the run up to the festivities - just one of the rituals.0
