I watched this last night....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01l1yxk/Panorama_The_Truth_About_Sports_Products/
It was quite an eye opener with reguards to how people are being conned in yet another area of life  , but here, in the name of health!!!
S
I watched that too Skymist, what a con! (Not that I can afford to spend so much on sports luxuries :rotfl:)
Well done on the weight loss WW. I must update my targets! I'll think about it whilst I am swimming today, just off to do my third mile of the week. Not that I have lost any weight this week....
Thanks for your posts Bitsy Beans and WW. Sorry about moaning last night.....report is still in the bin though. One of the things that made me so cross was that only the day before, one of the teachers had specifically come up to me to say how good and well behaved he had been.
Still, I didn't succumb to over eating or drinking (instead having a declutter, I clean when I'm feeling sad) so that is progress and we're still going to have the best summer ever. New day and all that.
Sounds like a lovely day planned LL. Are you looking at more houses, or just having a nice day out?
Hope everybody else has a good one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Chucking it down again. Having a day off today with DS2. Off to look at pretty villages and a run round the peak district, spot of lunch somewhere nice.
Great customer service WW re the car park.
Wow!!! and only the other day you were wondering if you could manage couch to 5K! You dark horse!!:rotfl:
Seriously, looking at the programme I think I need to start with just regular walking before I even break into a jog. When I was walking regularly a year or so ago I had some local 30 minute routes planned and noticed I kept adding bits as I got stronger and faster. So I'm going to do that to start with. Not sure when I'll start though as summer is meant to be officially arriving here tomorrow and it may be too hot for exercise!:D
Rachel, I have some experience of school reports too and I think that teacher is out of order. First, I think she should be commenting on your child's behaviour not suggesting he's a mean and spiteful person which I think are rather unprofessional, emotive words to use. Rightly or wrongly, teachers often use euphemisms so I might say 'xxxx's behaviour can sometimes be unkind but.....' then put in a positive. Also I think the school is wrong to give out reports so late in the term, sounds to me as if they are hoping all will be forgotten by September. It's far more usual to give out reports at/on a parents' meeting when you'd have an opportunity to discuss it. However, you do acknowledge he can be a handful but that he does know how to behave when he wants to. I'd suggest that in September, you make an appointment with the Head ASAP. Your child is likely to be in a new class in September with a new teacher. I'd be saying something like how disappointed you were to read the report so late in the term and what a shame you hadn't been approached earlier etc etc Then I'd suggest that you look forward and work with his new teacher to manage his behaviour in the coming year. Meanwhile have a really good holiday with him, praise him for his good behaviour at home and tell him you're expecting the same at school next year. Sorry to ramble HTH.0 -
Rachel - what a horrible thing for a teacher to say about a child, bang out of order, is there no-one in school today, maybe the headteacher is there finishing things off, they must've seen the report too, can't believe a headteacher would let a report go out like that, and as others have said if he has been a handful then it would've been polite of them to let you know before the end of term.
Well I have lost 1lb first week on tesco diets, well not quite as i didn't start til sunday but as I joined on a friday thats my weigh in day. Could've done a bit better will try extra hard next week.
I have been to my DD year 6 leavers assembly this morning, it was lovely and they all got to say something about their time in school, thought I might've been a bit emotional as I've been going up to the school for 11 years and its the end of an era, might be different when I go and pick her up. can't believe I won't have to go to the school anymore. She is off for a sleep over tonight with a friend, who's dad is putting on an end of year summer party tomorrow which is a lovely thing for him to do. Most of her friends are going up to secondary school with her so she will see most of her friends again.
Anyway I'm off to enjoy the last hours peace before the schools finish, 2pm finish today.
Enjoy the sun if you have it, we have yeah:jChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

Just back from the gym with my school friends and I am officially kn*ckered!
Did a 15 min jog on the machine and then a 45 min spinning class (whoever invented that was a proper sadist!) and then a poddle around the pool (not a proper swim, more of a chat) and 20 mins in the steam room. I really enjoyed it - I've never been a really girly girl with female friends but we had a good sweat, a gossip and put the world to rights.;) And I wasn't the biggest or the least fit of us:j
Only dog walking to come now exercise-wise, think that will be a stroll around the park rather than something more energetic after that lot of exertion.
Need to dye my hair today too (white roots again) - I hate that job - so will pop to Mr S on the way home from the park this afternoon and get it over with this evening.:(0 -
Well done on the weight loss WW - lucky you!
as for me - did Shred L2 Day 1 this morning before work and found I was right at the beginning again. Managed most of it stopping earlier for a couple of exercises as it was the first time I'd done them and a few were hard work. Will carry on tomorrow
Work done and dusted, dog walked and I'm about to get ready and go out on my bike for some training before the weekend when I do my long ride practice to see if I can make it to work and back without collapsing when I get off!
Lots of home tasks this weekend - strawberry jam making, garden clearing, Shredding, cycling, housework, washing and ironing and dog walkingfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Did a 60 min bike ride tonight. Could feel some improvement from earlier this week which was good to notice.
Anyway will carry on with Shred tomorrow and then bike ride on Sunday and lots of long dog walking.

I'm not surprised!!!
I think you and ww are an inspiration on the fitness front. Do make sure you have a bit of a rest at the weekend too!
Hewie, that move from Y6 to secondary is a real right of passage for children and parents, especially as it's your last. Good that she's having a celebration with friends, hope you're coping OK?
I've had a good day in that we've been out with friends for lunch and the summer is just creeping in. Next thing is when to start my Couch to 5K pre-training. Hopefully tomorrow!;)
'night all.:A0 -

I completely get what you mean about pre-training for the Couch to 5K challenge. I definitely need this. I was thinking I might try walking tomorrow. I think I would need a couple of weeks or so walking before I dare try any kind of running or jogging. Problem is my muscles are so sore at the moment. This weeks physiotherapy seems to have made matters worse.:o Perhaps a little gentle walking will help. I know some warm sunshine would.
I feel I do need to get a grip with my lack of fitness, before it is too late - use or lose it. I really struggled trying to walk up a couple of hills today and at just 61 that's not funny.
Had a lovely day out with DS2. Got nicely fabbed up, had a drive round some pretty villages :rotfl: and a lovely pub lunch. The sun managed to show its face for about half an hour - made the Derbyshire Dales look ravishing. Revisited some villages I'd not seen for years and yes we stopped to look at a few houses from the outside along the way.
Tomorrow DS2 and I are going to start sorting out the garage and loft - there is some serious decluttering to do. DS1 coming over on Sunday to lend a hand and some muscles.
Rachela - Sorry to hear what happened with your little one. I think I would definitely try and let your views be known before next term. I think the teacher was very wrong - it's a bit like lobbing a hand grenade and then running for cover.
If there is a genuine difficulty then the school should have informed you before now so that you could work with them.
Right that's me - off to bed now.
G'night all X0 -

I think try increasing how far you walk, gently though. Start off with usual route then each week or fortnight increase it a little more and then continue. My mum did this and it worked a treat for her, she has gone down a dress size, lost weight and can now walk much better and longer than she has done for years and she was over the moon to fit back into a size 14 after many years instead of going up to an 18. She walks 45mins a day or sometimes more and thats it.
Like all exercise, be realistic, you don't see results immediately, however if you stick at it you will. Start off with what you can do then take it gently from there. Remeber walking is as good as running and if you're not up to running then don't stress yourself about doing it. All the best!
As for me, I'm about to take the dog out on this bright sunny morning - weird - haven't seen a morning like this for a long time! Then come home and make some jam and then decide what to do after that!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
