**NEW**
We have identified the technical issue that has resulted in account balances not being up to date. We are now working to clear the backlog of payments and to restore services fully on Anytime Banking. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience.
What I would really like to know is the exact nature of this problem.0 -
Think a little perspective needs to be put on this. Yes it is inconvenient, but when you see the financial problems elsewhere in the world e.g Greece, it pales into insignificance.
There is no way that this will all be resolved, even before the end of next week. As has been pointed out, there are many millions of transactions that need to be sorted out. So no point getting into a lather about it.
Next week will be interesting, if people who rely on cars to get to work, cannot afford to pay for petrol. They might have to walk a few miles and use a bus or train. End of the world to some people! Expect some of these, to phone their employers saying that they cannot come to work due to RBS's 'technical glitch'.
If people can't afford petrol, what makes you think they'll be able to afford bus fares or train fares?
I personally live within 1 hour walking distance of work so if push came to shove, I would walk it... but if it was any more than that I definitely would not be prepared to walk as I have other responsibilities away from work.
You are probably right about there being some people taking the proverbial though and using it as an excuse to stay in bed.0 -

I was thinking that it costs about say £20 to put in a minimal amount of petrol and then say £10 to pay for a days parking if required. Therefore for a few days, it may be cheaper to see how they can access public transport, with any available money. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Me too but I am not holding my breath for the official statement from Natwest/RBS.
Have checked sites such as Computer Weekly because they are more likely to have the truth on the technical stuff than anyone else. Or may be some insider will tweet or otherwise leak it on the Internet, eventually.
This will rumble on for some time yet0 -

I would be surprised if they aren't monitoring websites like this. Whether they would care to comment is another matter.
Some staff are (eg me!) and posting to help where we can.
Not in any official capacity however, just as another forum member with a bit of 'insider' knowledge.
Am thinking of setting up a camp bed in my branch, have been here more than at home since Wednesday!!0 -

Not been able to access since yesterday morning, still no joy - now about to walk into to town to go to branch
Didn't realise how dependent I was on internet banking until now!0 -

It has however made me think I will open another bank acc with a diff bank and try to have a little bit of money sitting there just in case....or maybe just go back to keeping all my money under the matress!!
I'm aged 42 and spoke nicely to my parents yesterday as the maintenance from my ex husband has been held up.....
I did think about opening my sealed pot to access the cash in there 5 weeks early but luckily the bank of mum and dad came to the rescue. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Don't RBSG take a dim view of their staff posting as such on forums like this? There has been a lot of speculation on this thread from NatWest/RBS staff members, surely they might have something to say about them putting their two-penneth in about what is shaping up to be an absolute PR disaster for them?urs sinserly,
