You may as well hang up with the tax office, this has nothing to do with them. :A so it really won't help. It's a bank thing.
I'm sorry but it's true, and it's down to the bank to sort it.

Best wishes and I hope everything will be ok for you.
  • got through to tax credits (just to make sure it wasnt them) every thing ok with them just natwest , would of thought they would of had back up software or something like that

I'm staggered that this hasn't been picked up by the media as yet (or indeed MSE!!!).

This is the only link I could find, in Ireland, and even that incorrectly states that the problem has been resolved in the UK.

In banking terms this is a 'major incident'.
  • still nothing happens
I called NatWest and Tax office
Tax office means payment is made

NatWest said we don't know when the problem is sorted
  • I was called at 10am today by a customer of mine who could not transfer funds to pay two bills as the computers were still down.

Some of the counter staff were nearly in tears as they are getting a hard time with little knowledge or support.

I still have nothing in my bank. I suppose I will go and buy food, electric, petrol and pay my daughters nursery fees on etc with thin air today then!! A bank as big as natwest should have this under control.

My other half was due to get paid today, his employers pay the wages from Natwest. Spoke to our bank Nationwide and they advised that the next Bacs run is tonight, so in effect even if the problem gets sorted today - we still might not get any money until tomorrow.
Any direct debits due out by the bank, may be honoured it just depends on the limit you have over and above any existing overdraft - however still may get charged.
I am not aware how we would stand if we are charged for non payments and claiming this back through Natwest as there error?

  • I think this should be brought to BBC NEWS attention for the 1pm bulletin... This is a public matter and ALOT of concerned Natwest customers!!
