What way does this effect direct debits that are due to go out? Do they fail or are they just delayed?

Salary credit due on Monday, usually always shows up on a Saturday, but nothing. This is for RBS.

Not a complete disaster, enough in the cupboards to tide us over. I guess its a waiting game, and my 5 remaining ciggies will need to be rationed.

I genuinely feel for those people in dire straits because of this.

We will eat ( allbeit probably a bit of a hotch potch on the menu) but it would haven been nice to have a little bit of fun-money for the weekend.

Reading all the previous posts, I will check the bank throughout the day, and report back, in case it is useful to anyone else in similar situation.
    I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<3

Yes, that's true, my direct debit is not actually due until Monday, but would have normally come out on the Saturday.

Same here with my tax credits. They are not due till Monday, but i can normally see them on Saturday. I deliberately did not pay my rent yesterday, waiting to see if any money came in.I don't like doing that, but i'm going to hit dire straights midweek next week, if this isn't sorted. I'm due to get paid next friday too.We can manage at the moment though. My heart really goes out to everyone in this, as you assume you can access your money if need be and this is just so unexpected! It's definitely made me think twice, though about having most of my accounts with one provider.

  • Starting to get behond a joke, direct debits not been paid. No money in that should be. Luckily my cupboards are always stocked but I've got a disabled child that needs nappies, soya milk and money for petrol as ive a 2 hour trip to hospital Monday. Ridiculous. Bloody modern technology ( now i can see why some of the old folk keep cash under a mattress) hope everyone gets sorted soon.

I have been lucky and accessed my account online this morning, though still unable to transfer money between accounts.

I feel for those who are unable to access their funds.

I feel fortunate that I don't have any direct debits going out in the next few days and all of my spending is done by Capital One cashback credit card (so that I earn cashback), so spending wise, I haven't been affected.

I thought that RBS issued a statement last night to say that their attempt to fix the fault had failed and that it would be Monday at the earliest that things would return to normal.

I suspect that many transactions will not start appearing until the middle of next week. Many accounts will be overdrawn for a period, due to no fault of the account holder and RBS group will have to switch off all the automatic charges/interest, plus letters that are triggered to be sent. If they fail to stop the automated letters about the overdrawn account charges, they will be in more problems, when customers start to receive these. People are angry now and would be even more angry, if they started to receive charges/letters.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I for one will be going elsewhere when I have access to my money, OK it doesn't happen often but this is a massive !!!! up that has dragged on for days, I can't remember this happening to any other bank.
