These kinds of comments are speculation and scare-mongering. I'm sure it's not your intention and you're just annoyed/worried but saying things like this with no kind of solid evidence to back it up is just going to make people freak out unnecessarily. Even if that does turn out to be true, there's nothing that can be done to stop it so there's no point saying it in the first place.

What solid evidence do you refer to? When has any big financial institution given any indication it was about to fail, prior to doing so?

Take Northern Rock for instance or Lehman Brothers, MF Global, Madoff securities holdings etc.

What about the bank stress test that were conducted last year. Many of the banks that passed those test needed a bailout a couple of months later.

Posters on this forum are already panicked. They can't access their accounts. No amount of speculation is going to distract from such a primary concern.

If your attitude is nothing can be done to stop it, so we should do nothing. Why post your concerns on this thread if nothing can be done?

It was ever the nature of hypocrisy, that it can't see itself.

The situation here is looking much better.

    1. Several BACS payments into my account have appeared and cleared.
    2. Cheques paid in earlier this week have cleared.
    3. A card payment I made yesterday morning has reached it's destination. Although it disappeared from available funds immediately (as normal), it is still not showing as a transaction.
    4. Todays DDs have gone through.

So, things are looking reasonably good at the moment, hopefully this is a good sign that most issues for other people will be resolved by Monday.

    Fingers crossed.

I work in a branch and would like to say thank you to the customers. All have been very understanding and patient.

I think everyone realises that we're doing our best at the frontline and that most of us have given up our weekends to open the branches.

Some people are suffering hardship and who the heck are YOU to try to tell people they shouldn't rant.

As for "you are sure" .... so what ? You're just another person on a forum who assumes they know things when they usually know.............jack !

    Sheeeesh-Some people !!

    From the Natwest website :

We will ensure that no customers will be out of pocket as a result of these issues. We can confirm that any fees and charges incurred by customers will be fully refunded. This includes charges levied by a third party; for example, if you were late paying a non-NatWest credit card or mortgage because your account wrongly showed there wasn't sufficient cash.

I personally do not think that Natwest have gone bankrupt (but I do think it can scare people speculating - normally that's what the media is for). Maybe I am wrong...

However, they are government owned - if they had wanted them to go bankrupt they would have done in 2008.

Also, some people are now getting their money. If they had gone bankrupt then no one would be getting anything.

I've had a dollop of pending payments clear into my account today. As far as I can make out, everything is now up to date.

They are not bankrupt, they won't go bankrupt, I don't understand why people are even thinking like this.

They did a computer upgrade and it messed up similar to what happens to us sometimes on our home pc's. It should not have happened but things do go wrong sometimes. :)

I don't think online banking is working 100% ATM, when I tried a short while ago I could log in and see the balances but when I tried to pay my credit card bill it said unavailable. :)

    Please help before i cry.

Yesterday my house sale completed. My solicitor sent over £16,000 into my account by instant bank transfer. The money was there and i could see it all day yesterday and all day today....until 2 hours ago when every penny disappeared.

I called natwest who said they have no trace of it going in.

I've read about the technical issues and i was under the impression that once the money was in the account then it was safe. It was there and now it's not. Where has it gone :(

    I'm literally shaking with anger.

I bet it will appear again later on, it will be in the system somewhere, try not to worry I am sure it will turn up.

It must be very frustrating for you. :)
