Good news - DH's pay has gone into our account and balance is correct. However, unable to transfer any money between accounts.

    Same here - it's a start anyway.

I'm now able to make faster payments out of my Natwest business account to both another Natwest account and also to a Halifax account.

Both FP's were received instantly in the other accounts.

Well I went down to my local branch who stayed open until 7pm, they were absolutely fantastic and really helped me out - possibly as I ended up bursting into tears on them as i was so tired out from all the calls to the call centre throughout the day!

They gave me £300 cash and paid some bills for me via their computers. They also said they will personally walk down to Barclays the minute my wages hit my a/c (during working hours obviously) and pay the credit card bill as well to save me doing this (as I am going away on holiday and may not be able to pay it beforehand if a/c not up and running)! They also let my 3yr old son use their toilet and gave him a drink. They couldnt have treated me more nicely.

They explained that yesterday was worse than today in branch and that slowly the tech heads were fixing the fault but said they wouldnt like to be in the shoes of whoever caused the problem!

By the time I had got home my wages were showing in my a/c although I cannot pay bills or do transfers etc.

I have bought them a box of chocolates and a thank you card to take down tomorrow for being so good

Good to see they're doing what they can. Sounds similar to thre branches I work with - they'd go well out of their way to help a customer but rarely get thanked for it, so it's great to see that someone appreciates it!

Unfortunately when things like this happen it's the frontline staff that suffer, and they're normally the last to know what's going on!
  • Will they be doing this all through the night then, catching up, i dont know if thre is any point in checking every few hours til i go to bed or not?

I'm sure they'll really appreciate that :T. I bet they've had a stressful couple of days taking abuse from customers for something that isn't their fault.

Also, since they have to be paid into an RBS/NatWest account, I'd guess a good proportion of them bank with them and are personally affected as well.

Exactly - I used to work for RBS (made redundant), so I know practically everyone that works there are in exactly the same position as the customers, in that they are made to have RBS accounts, so can't access their own money!

I do understand its stressfull though, I went in there today and the lady said 100% that I would get paid on Monday. I did think she was brave saying things like that! I hope she's right...

I'm hoping NOT to have to visit my branch tomorrow but I know if I do they'll go the extra mile to help me just as they did when my debit card got cloned and their idiotic fraud department forgot to cancel the card when I called them to report it (same day thanks to internet banking) .

Of course the branch staff still take the brunt of customer's wrath whilst the bosses stay right out of the firing line .

Some huge over reactions on this thread.

I know lots of people are angry but ranting on a forum isn't going to solve anything. We're all in the hands of the banks, it will all be sorted out eventually and i'm sure compensation will be paid where it's justified.

    Don't be so bloody condescending
Some people are suffering hardship and who the heck are YOU to try to tell people they shouldn't rant.

As for "you are sure" .... so what ? You're just another person on a forum who assumes they know things when they usually know.............jack !
