This incident has really astounded me though. I had no idea so many people with babies and toddlers don't bother to keep food in the house!
Would just like to say different people are being told different things - not all branches / customer service centre staff are giving the same information - when I asked for money yesterday i was told firstly they were not giving any cash - if you look on here some people got it others were told no - i was then told later that the emergency amount would have been £40Debt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
I can not even get onto my online banking now!!!
Im confused, if i went to my local branch would they let me withdraw????? No balance is showing this morning, so will they be able to see the real balance???0 -
I've had to get hubby to pay my bill for me, including the late fee, before they piled on even more fees.
I've emailed the company I was due to pay yesterday to ask them for something in writing regarding the £20 late fee. Once this is all sorted I will present it to Natwest as I expect reimbursement.
I've got 4 kids to feed and while we haven't emptied the cupboards yet, it won't take long, so I need this money to buy the groceries that Hubby would have bought!

some branches seem to be allowing an emergency amount others not - yesterday they could not see what the real balance should be or if any money was due in but if you show them any wage slips or proof that you have this money coming etc Im hoping they will helpDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -

You are an ignorant, judgemental person. Before I had kids, I never was out of stuff or broke, either.
Also, NO ONE SAID empty cupboards, but how long you suppose fruit and milk last? They need 3+ servings of these every day. 3 kids = 9 servings a day! Have you ever counted the apples in a bag, or anything?
Also, not all of us scrounger get housing benefit, council tax benefit etc.
There's also childminders for those whose work clashes with school, school clothes (like I have just run out of detergent you have spare laundry detergent?), little fees for everything every time you turn around and transportation costs.
If lets say I only gave my kids apples as their fruit/veg to keep things simple.
So far, that is [STRIKE]27 apples[/STRIKE] oh oops, if we are only using apples for this illustration instead of veg too, make that 45 MINIMUM in 3 days to meet their daily requirements. (5x fruit/veg a day. We buy the small kidsize apples)
That's 144 oz of milk.
27 slices of bread (MINIMUM) for 3 days (grain)
and minimum of 36oz protein product like meat or quorn or whatever.
Now, this is not even enough food for most kids who will then want snacks, so add more fruit/veg whatever.
You got that in your cupboards? In coinage in your house? I darned sure can't and BY the WAY, your cheap bag of pasta, would have don them and my husband all of 2 dinners. So the cheap bag of pasta is gone too.
You sound like someone who cannot see anyone else's perspective, so why not call your own Mum and ask if she ever had a hard time providing for you. I am sure unless your family was well off, she has and would be ashamed of what you're saying to other Mums who haven't got their housekeeping funds.
That's definitely settled it - people are just choosing to make up their own version of what I say so they can purposely be offended... I was unaware that one baby equates to 3 children - I always thought the average child ate slightly more than 1/3 of the daily requirements of a baby/toddler... I quite clearly specified "baby" or "toddler" so your long (rather pointless - why are we assuming your kids only eat apples or cannot survive 2 days without fruit?) rant was completely unnecessary.
Dismissing your long list, yes I do easily have enough food in the house to last 3 children (in fact, 3 adults and 1 16 year old) for 2 days. The milk/bread/fresh fruit/veg may run out, but no-ones going to die of starvation. I'm rather sure she'd be saying the same thing I am actually - the claims people are making that their children and babies are going to starve are beyond ridiculous and it shows the complete lack of preparedness people have for things going wrong. I'd dread to think what would happen if we have a hurricane etc.
Maybe your response was just a spur-of-the-moment thing and you didn't stop to think it through though? I'm not saying everyone can maintain their current diet with no money, I'm saying they can afford to eat. Them going without fruit/veg/protein for a day isn't going to do the slightest bit of harm.0 -
with regards to the post above that states that no one is slating me, im glad they arnt
i was angry yesterday, and im still a bit annoyed... I went into branch last night, and (which is crazy) showing them a copy of my payslip, i could withdraw what i liked!!
I have a basic account, and i find it unbelieveable......that with a payslip (on a phone) i could do what i want
the even more alarming bit, is it was all done without my pin number
on another issue, what about people who dont look online??? how would they know the branch is open?0 -

Problems this morning...
A transfer I expected to clear into my account by yesterday is still not available. I need this to pay due bills and imminent DDs.
More worrying, a large card payment I made yesterday morning, which disappeared from my balance immediately, does not seem to have reached the destination account as it usually does, next day.
Check any card payments you have made.0 -
My wages haven't gone in this morning either0
