Will check again tomorrow when Monday's situation should be showing, and when the amount banked Thursday would normally have been added to the available balance.
Cheques
For info: Thursday's cheque credit has now appeared in Monday's overview + statement, but hasn't been added to the available balance, so it's been treated as a Friday transaction rather than Thursday's (it carries a date of 6 July instead of 5th) and won't now be in the available balance till Tuesday.
The cheques were deposited in good time before the branch's stated cut-off time of 4.30pm, after which it would be treated as the following working day.
Luckily we're able to stand the extra day without much hassle, but gremlins are evidently still alive and well in the NatWest system.~cottager0 -
I only requested my NW faster payments to Cahoot this morning and it has already arrived! I thought banks didn't operate faster payments Saturday or is it something to do with their being more weekend staff on duty coping with problems?0

Faster Payments operate 24/7, 365 days a year. You'd certainly get this with the big clearing banks like NatWest/RBS, but they're not the only ones.
Sending electronic payments from 'agency bank' accounts (mostly building societies or those who rely on a clearing bank to handle their transactions) may well take longer, but since 1 January all electronic payments should reach destination accounts by the end of the following working day, though some may operate a cut-off time (for sending) after which it wouldn't leave till the following working day.~cottager0 -
I still say that it seems very strange that within days of RBS management making a statement that there is to be hundreds of redundancies within its organisation (not for the customers benefit but so that they can continue to pay themselves vast over inflated bonuses), a ‘Glitch’ then caused all this trouble. Is it possible that a frustrated and disgruntled employee who’s name is on the redundancy list hit the wrong key on the computer system. If I were employed by them I would be sorely tempted. :cool:Trying to learn something new every day.0

I paid this cheque in a branch face to face with a bank clerk with a credit clip. It's a cheque from my own company, with my own signature. Got the receipt straight off in branch.
These cheques usually clear my account / funds are available within 2-4 days. This time it isnt even recorded as an entry, never mind even avialble.
I think I was specifically talking about the fact the cash hadn't shown. If you need it to show immediately you need to pay it in without the slip. This is because a mixed slip (cash and cheques) create a cash in voucher and that gets sent off with the cheque and then is presented in the same manner, hence the delays. The views I express are purely my own and do not represent any views of my employer.0 -

Don't you think that in the current climate that statement is a little unnecessary?
And no, it wasn't a keyboard warrior getting there own back, that's just a ridiculous comment. The views I express are purely my own and do not represent any views of my employer.0 -

If you request it before 3.30 and it's to a main bank and not an agency or building society it reaches the same day.
Nothing to do with the staff "coping" and there being more of us.The views I express are purely my own and do not represent any views of my employer.0 -

I have heard this before.
What confused me is when I arranged the transfer they gave me tomorrows date as the transfer date (Monday 9th). I will check closely next time.0 -
That's right, when you do the payment it will tell you what date is it going out :-)The views I express are purely my own and do not represent any views of my employer.0
