I don't think that this can be put down to the Natwest/RBS problems. I would suggest contacting Barclays or the WTC/CTC people.

    I am not so sure.

If you Google the Government Banking Service you will find that that RBS took over as the provider of banking transactions services for HMRC in April 2008. Any benefits such as WTC that are paid by HMRC would go through that route.

Worthing checking with the Revenue whether the payments have been processed

Logged into my account yesterday to see that I was overdrawn. Logged in today to see I was even further overdrawn.

Turns out Ulster Bank are taking my withdrawal amounts out before they even put my money in. Idiots.

I am definitely out of that bank now.

For info, as well as this one for the RBS group in general (including Ulster), did you know there's been another thread running just for Ulster Bank which you might find useful, on the N/Ireland board:

Am i the only one still missing a payment into my account from all this hoohah?

I phoned this morning to query why they have given me £30 when they owe me £570 and they have said it is to close the matter off, compensation etc. But they still havent found the BACS payment? how can that be? they accept responsibility but dont credit the payment or are they actually saying they think i'm lying about it going missing but they'll try to shut me up with compensation. I am very confused.

It wouldnt be so bad but i worked their for NW for nearly twenty years and have copies of the BACS run it was on and have checked it's not come back to my employer.

they tell me though this morning all the issues are resolved!

just spoke to a natwets customer service guy who read from a script apologising for the problems and then waited for me to say something. Not sure if he was waiting for a "thats ok" or a "dont mention it" but it was embarassing.
As someone who has been a victim of British industries policy of outsourcing IT for cheap labour I am glad that this has reached the public spotlight and people are questioning it.
but this is the tip of the iceberg - most companies are doing it and 99% of the problems never reach the media. do you remember Tesco stores shutting a few years ago due to a till problem? that was caused by offshore. and they was also an occasion that 300 stores had to close overnight which never reached the media as everything had been put right by the morning.
This wont be the last time it happens.

Is there any reason as to why the banks didn't/couldn't process credits before debits to avoid people going 'overdrawn' or having DD's and SO's bouncing leading to charges which have to be claimed back and the hassle of getting markers removed from credit files?

I'm glad that I wasn't affected by the crisis, my CTC went into my HSBC account as usual.

Going to be checking my account again, as the cash payment into the account appeared a couple of days ago - brilliant you may think, but as I withdrew it the next day with the receipt they had given me (to prove I had paid it in), I wasn't expecting it to appear at all, and it hadn't been withdrawn again when I checked.

Other folks who don't check their accounts as much may have spent this cash, thinking as I did at first it was a regular payment. Instead I shall just leave it there 'til they remember to debit again.

  • It's good to see that NatWest offered us all compensation for their troubles. Think I'll change to Co-Op.
  • Hi,

I'm experiencing problem with my account at the minute and its with Natwest. Basically I purchased an Item from an American company (online) on the 10th of July and I was charged twice (duplicated transaction). The first payment has cleared off and the retailer has gotten the money. However, the second transaction has been pending since then, I've been pushed back and forth between Natwest and the Company, its just so frustration.

Natwest have given me the transaction code to the payment and I have passed this on to the American company several times, however they claim they can't release the funds from their side

1.Because they never requested the payment twice
    2.Because their bank/merchant don't recognise the code

Natwest staffs have given me various conflicting information as to how long it takes for unclaimed pending transactions to drop off.

I feel soo helpless, its been dragging on for soo long. Also,i've incured soo much on my phone bill as i have been calling natwest and the American company several times.I am just a student and the amount involved is £426 :(

    Please help anyone
