Our pensions didn't go in today but the standing orders went out and we're overdrawn now for the first time ever :)

I don't have an Ulster Bank Credit Card, and today is the first time that I've heard about being able to go to the branch about getting money.

I have a basic account, I bet they aren't so free and easy about handing out the money in advance of them fixing that one!

I have just opened a new account with a different bank. I can't afford to be without funds for over 2 tax credit payments, I live hand to mouth being a poor student.

I can't get over the fact that in this day and age there are no safe guards, no redundant systems, etc etc, and that the only thing that us UlsterBank using mugs can have is a "I'm so sorry" very very frustrated by this complete farce.

So do I,a Ulster basic debit card account.I've been able to withdraw money twice with my debit card, photo ID & a letter from the DSS showing I'm getting ESA.

Thanks -- fascinating read and useful insight.

Echoes the comments at The Register thread mentioned previously here a couple of times, and the general drift I'd picked up from there... but sets it out more simply for the likes of me :)

Thank you! I will head to my local branch tomorrow and see what they say. Will I need a tax credit letter I'm wondering? Surely to god despite their little hiccup, they can still see what has been coming into my account from the day and hour it was opened?

Really really frustrated by this :(

A few people on pages 67/68 have said about money going in not showing online. I found the hard way that it can take a while for online to show. The way I found out was that one night I was able to take money out using an ATM at 12:05am, last year I tried to buy something online at 12:15am and card was declined. I went into my bank and very helpful member of staff said that although money clears for ATM withdrawals at midnight, it can take a few hours for online to catch up.

    You're welcome,

I'd take that & also if you can print off a statement from the online banking for a couple weeks/month,as they can see that you get money regulary, just to be on the safe side.

Aha, but I would *IF* it was working.... which is isn't.... (even though they claim that it's all working fine!!) And I was one of those green folks who went for paperless banking.

**EDIT** actually, just tried it, and this is the first time that it's actually been showing transactions!!

**Second EDIT** nevermind, PRINT doesn't actually print the transactions, just the heading of the columns..... I hate UlsterBank so much right now :(

Well, I have had a look on here, and on the recommendation of this site, I've just opened an account with the Co-Op Bank. (I have 14 days to cancel) but I am just sickened by this, and their complete inability to sort it out. I will bet that this has cost them more money long term than keeping their IT support in the UK ever would have.....

Just goes to show you, you really do get what you pay for RBS.....
