This sounds useful for people who don't bank with the RBS Group but are affected downstream. It's quite high-level, but you may be able to use this with your bank if they are not immediately cooperative

Very useful: more so than the FSA link I'd posted earlierwhose sentiments are broadly similar but more 'woolly' -- this has sensible step-by-step advice.
I must say (thinking about 3rd party banks whose customers are affected) I can't really see why, given the seriousness of this and how it's rippling out to affect so many others, why they aren't putting in place similar measures for their customers, i.e. emergency cash and so on.
Maybe they are and I'm doing them a grave injustice, but just reading posts here it doesn't seem so far that they're doing much more than being sympathetic. They can argue the toss later about who stands the cost (well, we can guess who!), but the main thing now after so many days is to give their customers real help. After all, I imagine rather more than a few working at other banks could be thinking 'There but for the grace...'~cottager0 -
I believe plans are being put in place for non-RBS group customers to be able to claim out of pocket expenses from their own bank, who in turn will re-claim from RBS. For example those poor folk whose employers bank with RBS, who have not been paid and therefore suffered bank and third party charges.
The Payments Council Press Release certainly suggests that this is what will happen. Be patient though, please, as it will take a while for other banks to organise their processes. This sounds useful for people who don't bank with the RBS Group but are affected downstream. Checked my bank a/c this morning, child tax Credits & Carer's Allowance both in, wages due tomorrow showing in Pending Transactions. Just hoping DH's DLA goes in on Wednesday and Income Support goes in on Thursday. Wages tomorrow is going on bills, DH's DLA will be gone on bills including replacement glasses (one of our daughters took them off him during a tantrum and threw them in the road). Have tried to spread biggest bills out so they go out on different weeks but there's a couple which are sometimes closer than we'd like (most of our money comes in weekly with a couple of things every 4 weeks).0

The organisation I work for (who I don't want to name) are helping customers who are in financial difficulty as a result of these problems - so long as the staff can see a regular credit originating from a Natwest/RBS sort code. It's not been publicised particularly but if someone goes into a branch or calls telephone banking, they should get some help.0 -
still nothing for me,,,so i gave in and gave them a call..... surprisingly they answered within about 3 - 4 mins. Spoke to a bloke and he told me by 10pm tonight the update should be complete and by the morning everything should be back to normal. We shall see0

My wages are due to go in the bank tomorrow morning. I have a feeling they may not be there! I received an email from the NatWest 10 minutes ago to say that I can use my NatWest credit card to make a withdrawal up to £100 and will not be charged any transaction fees. Very handy except I don't have a NatWest credit card! I only have a NatWest Visa Debit card...
The fact I received this email makes me think there may be nothing in my account tomorrow morning.0 -
Hi Robbie
If it helps I think they've sent the email to everyone. I received it and the only think I'm missing is £10 which a mate transferred to my account last week reimbursing some cash I lent him. And in fact I'm not sure he has actually transferred it at all0 -
Wages went in today (Due in today) and I was able to draw on them through a cash point0

Child Benefit due today (usually there on a Saturday morning) still nothing. Talking about being screwed til Friday, and my SECOND amount of tax credits are due on Wednesday.
Really unhappy, moved from Bank of Ireland to UlsterBank, and I have to be honest I'm starting to wish I hadn't0
