i called natwest, told them their apologise and crap wouldnt feed my kids and i wanted my money and what compensation is going to be offered to affected customers.

The put me through to complaints, i argued for a bit and told them i simply couldbt wait.

they are now putting a temporary credit in my account, it is discretionary, so they will only give you bare minimum for what you need and will take money back (there or not) within 1 day!

It pays to ring and keep complaining!

Can people honestly nt find enough money to survive a day? I always have £20 or so incase this happens.

I think the banks are in enough debt without having to pay out compensation.

The option is there to withdraw up to £300 in branch. I can't obviously comment on some branches thy have closed, and any branch that refuses needs to read he email they would have been sent this morning

What if the doors are shut, as some are reporting? :(

Yeah, that would make it a lot more difficult! I don't know why branches are reported to be closed, we do have manual fallback cashiering procedures (that's where the £300 max comes from).

Unlikely but it could be unrelated staffing issues? Eg staff off sick and not enough to open the branch.

I awaiting a benefits payment - when ive spoken to any advisers they told me it did not matter what the money is they cant do anything about it - Im just ringing them again and their message has been changed to say "it should be rectified later this afternoon"

I am in the process of discussing - have informed them that different people are being told different things - they want to know where Im reading this from .......... they tell me they are in no way honouring any payments and the points Im raising from here are just not happening

Some people are forced to live week to week or even day to day . I'm sure most people try to put by a little in order to compensate an emergency such as this but not always possible.

I was expecting money to credit my account today and only have £4 in one account I like many other will be enjoying toast until situation is fixed !

Some people heavily rely on money coming in - I know it may sound odd to some people that you cant survive a day - but when its the end of the month and everything in the cupboard has run down and your petrol tank is empty - or you live week to week - you know for definate the money is coming in on that given day and you rely on it - your lucky if you have a spare £20 laying around!!!!

(Natwestnightmare - our posts crossed - totally agree with what you are saying! - they asked me this morning why I did not have another account with money in it .................. need I say more)

  • Daily Mail also reporting on this now:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2162630/NatWest-Royal-Bank-Scotland-customers-hit-technical-problem.html

Been to the main branch by me and they are NOT allowing customers to make withdrawls on pending credits (ie Tax Credits/Benefits) but they were aware some branches are allowing it, I can't understand why there isn't a blanket policy on this as some people are getting their monies and some aren't, depending on the branch?

Was also advised they don't expect this issue to be resolved today but cashier said that was only her opinion and not Natwest's line on it!
