Important Information for our customers - message timed at 14:45
We continue to experience technical issues which means that account balances have not been updated and yesterday's balance is still being displayed. We recognise this has caused significant inconvenience for our customers and has impacted many of our services.
We are doing everything we can to resolve this issue and will keep you informed of our progress.
Customers who are affected can access cash at local branches, and staff at our call centres are also ready to answer questions and help where they can.
We will be keeping over 1,000 NatWest branches in all major towns and cities open until 7pm tonight to assist customers who are unable to get to their branch during working hours

My direct debits have appeared, but still no sign of the cheque I paid in a few days ago, or the Barclaycard debit card payments Bcd processed yesterday morning.0

It was just there when I logged on.....
It's all well and good saying that now but when I went in, people weren't able to withdraw cash and that was only an hour or so ago, it also doesn't let you know which branches are open til 7pm.0 -
Re people asking about compensation - I can understand this has caused lots of problems but I wouldn't expect compensation to be paid. I WOULD however, expect the bank to refund any fees, fines or charged incurred because of their error.
I would also expect them to learn from this and put a system in place so that it isn't possible for this to happen again. To be honest I'm very shocked that they don't already have a back-up system.
It is all well and good saying that they don't guarantee you'll always be able to access the service - but you do expect them to still have the system in place to carry out standard transactions with other financial organisations, etc.
As it happens, we've been waiting for money to go into our Natwest account over the last few days and now know why we've not seen it. Luckily, we do have accounts elsewhere - not that any of them have anything in them! My main concern at the moment is they don't lose any transactions. If they're going to break down completely, I'd prefer it to happen AFTER I've cleared out my bank account!0 -
Hi just an update from phone call I was having - In my opinion they seemed a little "scared" if that is the right word for it on where all the different info was coming from asking on a number of occasions where I am reading my info - like many on here have put since Ive been on the call a "blanket policy" should be in effect and now Ive resigned myself to having no cash/no food today i would prefer to know exactly what is going on rather than "we dont know"
The customer service adviser is due to ring me back - now I may have got this confused but when I queried whether if it updates at 4-4.30 and it still does not happen will it happen now tomorrow - she stated that updates happen in the early hours of the morning so if it did not take place this morning it would be tomorrow now but again I dont want to confuse matters on this although more and more people seem to be posting similar that this late in the day its going to be tomorrow
She is finding out what exactly people are being offered as all she knew (she was a Manager of that Service Centre) was that they could not give anyone any money.
will update when they call me back ...Debt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0
