But this is not about your card is it? It is about your sweeping statement thatthey have not been able to debit my account nor anyone eles?
So how do you know about anyone elses (or eles in your language) cards?0 -

I'm afraid you are quite wrong, and your sister in law should not be advising her customers that. It's no wonder I had to deal with so many complaints about bad advice when I worked for that bank.
FYI, Visa and Mastercard operate a scheme where retailers can get the number of your new card if you've cancelled the one you gave them the details of. I'm not saying all retailers will use this system, but a lot of them do (especially payday loan companies).0 -

if anyone reads back i also was told by barclays and true to there word my account has been safe. i wish everyone luck dealing with these people i just went straight the bank. oh not all pay day loans as my mam/friends had them and she got tired of paying them back so she cancel her card and my friends and they never got there money.0 -
That's fair enough. Even so, Barclays probably shouldn't have told you that.
The best thing to do is ask the bank to cancel any "continuous payment authority" held on the card in the name of the company you want to stop payments to.0 -
also martin was on tv 2 weeks ago talking about this long card number and he said it's now illegal to debit it if you have informed the compnay no doubt the trolls lurking to deny this lmao..0

What Martin will have actually said is that if you tell your bank and the company concerned that you are withdrawing the CPA then any future payments made will be clawed back. He did not say if you cancel your card then no further money will be taken.0 -

While its against PSD, its not illegal in the way that you could take someone to court.
ML also failed to mention that had you done the above before...... You have been able to claim you money back for years thanks to Visa's & Mastercards regulations.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
