• I responded to an advert on Facebook saying Wanted: skincare testers. I saw no small print nor terms and conditions saying I would be billed monthly. I sent an email to dead sea, as a reply to their acknowledgement for my order and despatch note, saying cancel all future orders or subscriptions. I also called my bank, they put me through to the disputes dept (Lloyd tsb) who had heard of this company. They put a note on my account to stop all future payments to this company, and gave me a number to ring if any future payments are made so the bank can refund them.

So dont worry if you were caught out, just search your email for their email address, log into your account and cancel refills, then just in case, email them cancelling. Then get on to your bank.
• Reply to my email to them. Hi Alyson,

Thank you for clarifying that with us.

Please be advised that if you decide to keep your beauty kit beyond the 14 day trial period, you will be charged the full price.

Kind Regards,

• Does anyone know what would happen if you refused to sign for the product at the door when the delivery company try and deliver it. If it's never been in your possession, it can't be your responsibility yet can it?

Have a read of the post immediately before the one you quoted.
• Hi all,

Unfortunately I, too, got duped - really annoyed with myself as I am usually pretty good at spotting 'to-good-to-be-true' offers that have the potential to be scammed. Here's my story for what its worth:

I got an email from a third party freebies site saying get this anti-wrinkle tube of serum for just the £2.95 P&P - advertised as a great Xmas present for someone or a treat for yourself and I though why not? I clicked on the link and went through the motions on the Collagenta website - I ticked yes to T&Cs but stupidly didn't read them (i know I know, stupid, stupid, stupid) - I could see by that point that it was a trial which was disappointing but I figured that it would be a trial sized pot of stuff and that I would just go straight back on to the website and say I didn't want to continue with any subscription/refil etc. My 'order' was completed at 8.57pm.

Overnight I appear to have got my senses back and thought something didn't quite add up. When I got in to work the next day at 7.30am I re-read everything, googled the company etc and realised I had falled foul of a scam. I called their number straight away - automated so I left a message. I emailed them both directly from my outlook and through their enquiry section of the website instructed them to cancel immediately and not ship/despatch. I called my credit card company and explained the situation - they said that the £2.95 P&P had been taken already but they could (a) block any requests from this company and (b) block my card and issue me with a new one - I opted for both. I also spoke to their fraud team.

After many many emails and phone messages I got an automated response from Collagenta saying my order had been despatched for shipping. I continued to email them and they finally came back and offered me the 'reduced price' (that it seems everyone else got).

I responded and said that I would be returning the item and to provide a UK address for return.

The item arrived by DPD courier the following morning. They came back and said that the only return address was in Israel. I responded and said that, given that the item had just turned up it was clearly sent from a UK address as the depot it was sent from (which you can see from the DPD tracking details) was in Leicester and there were no other markings on the envelope so could they please send me the UK address from which is was sent.

They responded and insisted that the item had been shipped from Israel and if I didn't return I would be charged full price.

I responded (politely) and said I would be happy to send back to Israel if that is where it was sent from. I asked that they provide me with the following:

****

Please provide all the relevant shipping and customs information and
correspondence relating to my order placed on 11/12/12 asap so that I can return this item. This should include, but not be limited to:

- Instruction of distribution to Israel-based shipping agent on 11/12/12 after order was placed
- Customs and Excise documentation
- Receipt of Collection/Drop off at shipping agent in Israel, including
date and time
- Tracking number/reference for Israel-based shipping agent
- Date, time and arrival location in UK (including name of airport or port)
- Any other relevant correspondence

You can include all the timings as IST.

***

They responded immediately and told me 'as a gift to me' they would let me keep it free of charge - funny that! Of course I am yet to see whether they will make attempt to take money from my card but I have certainly learnt a very hard lesson. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

.

Just shove it back in the post as return to sender...
Fact is you have cancelled and if they sent something out after. Well thats their fault.

Just do not waste any time or MONEY doing what the company are requesting.
If you really wanted to contact them. Email them advising that the goods will be avaiable to be picked up, from you, for the next 14 days by them at THEIR EXPENSE. Other wise they will be destroyed. As you cancelled the order before the goods were dispatched.

If they send anymore refuse delivery.

I was fooled into thinking that as a reward for taking a survey that I was to receive this as a gift and would only have to pay S&H £3.95. after a couple of hours I began to feel uneasy so I decided to research this company and lo and behold yes they are a scam. The info I got was "They operate from Israel and they launder the money to the Italian !!!!!!!!!!"! immediately I e-mailed them and told them I did not want their unsolicited gift and I wanted to cancel it. I was told that it had already been shipped. I then answered that if it was not on my doorstep the next day I would inform the police. Guess what it was at my home the next evening delivered by DPD so they MUST operate from the UK. I got an observer to sign for it, hence I personally have not received the "gift" and so far all they have taken is the £3.95 S&H. that was on the 11th December it is now the 23rd. I check my account online every day and so far so good. I also went to my bank and cancelled any payment they might take as I paid with a debit card.

Please tell others to beware as they are now targeting users on face book advertised as "TESTERS WANTED" if you press "like" you go to their web page and on this scam they tell you they will be sending brand names ie Olay!
• clearly crooks - giving a PO box address in Israel to return products, it's a joke.

I've just sent a high priority email saying to cancel trial under misrepresentation and trading law adding in capitals 'NO AUTHORISATION IS GIVEN TO TAKE ANY FURTHER AMOUNTS FROM CREDIT CARD ENDING...'

If they do I just print out the sent email and send it to the card company
• I too fell for this "free trial" advert, which is so unlike me. I placed the order on 21st Dec, but never received anything and after looking online I then found out about what exactly I had signed up. At this point, Dead Sea Kit still hadnt even sent me anything, so I emailed them the following:

"Once again I email to cancel order LLU-GHWU3. This order has now been cancelled on several occasions to several email addresses and I have saved every single one of them for proof.
It is now official that my account has been cancelled and therefore no money can be taken in the future from Dead Sea Beauty Kit or any sister companies relating to you. My account and order has been cancelled before any delivery has been confirmed from you. On 21st December I received a confirmation of the order stating that “it would be dispatched within two business days and a dispatch confirmation email to me once it had been dispatched”. I have yet to receive a dispatch confirmation of the product. The only email I have ever received about this order is the confirmation email on 21st December. As you yourself state that a dispatch email will be sent once the order has been dispatch and I have yet to receive one, my cancellation has arrived BEFORE the order was dispatched and I am within my full rights to cancel this order.
Please note that you have acted against The Trade Description Act on several points, the most serious one being describing a product as “gratis”, “free” or similar if the consumer has to pay anything other than the unavoidable cost of responding to the commercial practice and collecting or paying for delivery of the product.
Your advert clearly state that the trial kit is free, when in fact it isn’t. You don’t send out a trial kit, you send out a full sized kit, which you then expect payment for unless the consumer returns this to an Israel address.
On your website, you post a UK address, making the average consumer think that you are in fact based in the UK and that any returns can be done to a UK address. This is again misleading the average consumer to believe they are dealing with a UK company. I suspect that if most of your tricked customers knew you were operating from Israel, they would never have ordered the “free trial kit”.
You have misled the average consumer several times in your advert and that is against The Trade Description Act.
Once again, I confirm cancellation of this order, which has yet to be dispatched and delivered. As a dispatch confirmation email has still not been sent to me, I can only take that it hasn’t in fact been dispatched."

And I kept emailing it till I got a reply. I emailed to alex@deadseakit.com and support@deadseaset.com and both replied within a few days (I emailed them every couple of hours until they replied).

Their reply was that they would try to stop the shipping of the product and that if it was delivered, then I would need to refuse the delivery. I emailed them back and said that as they hadnt posted it within the time they said it would be posted, I was within my rights to cancel and that if it did turn up, I would refuse if I was home, but that I might not be home and any return costs was to be covered by them. They accepted this and even refunded my P&P.

Keep emailing them!! They will get back to you if you're pestitent enough.
