I'm not sure but on the original thread (which I can't find) I thought someone was accepted straight away.
My wife applied online through one of the links (which was bookmarked and still works!). She was told at the end of the application process that she was "successful".

After reading the posts this evening we decided to ring them and ask how the application process was going. I was a little bemused by their reply in that they said they would send out the form (didn't ask if it was 6 or 18 months as I thought this may give the MSE game away ;)) for my wife to sign and only after she had signed and returned it would they let her know what her credit limit was! :(

I recently applied for a Virgin card. I phoned 3 days later and was given my limit over the phone. The limit was also on the form which I signed. I mistakingly thought all providers operated like this. How wrong was I?

My big fear now is my wife will get a low limit (or equally as bad, a 6 month offer), and with the BT fee & 3% minimum repayments it will hardly be worth stoozing.

Another forum member recently, and very kindly, sent me a paper copy 18 month offer. I haven't returned it yet as I need to get my Egg card set up. However, I may wait until the dust has settled before applying in the hope of actually getting the 18 month offer. Is this wise?

My husband applied and was turned down as he "did not meet their criteria" but was offered the 6 month deal. He had checked his credit rating with Experian a few weeks back and all was well. Methinks there is something strange with all these refusals! Capital 1 must be pulling a fast one!

I cant say weather its wise or not YorkshireBoy - but my application for 18 month offer was through the Leaflet and I still got the 6 month offer. I had a Cap1 card about a year ago and had an excellent history with them but didn't seem to make a difference.

    Hi YorkshireBoy

I had to snip your post a bit, but after being offered a 5th of what I earn, I can't say I was that pleased.

I know I apply for these things without realising what it can do to my credit rating, but honestly? I'd never contemplate contacting Capital 1 direct. (But I don't stooze by the way - I'm too thick ;))

That might seem like a trite reply, but knowing this site there's always something better around the corner.

Plus you're a canny Yorkshire Lad ;) Wait until the dust settles.

Can i just clarify something here.

When people say you've been offered a different card - i'd like to know

    A. How did you apply by leaflet or the online link. If it was the online link - when was this - as I noted the link was closed at one point and someone posted it elsewhere, yet by that point the site wasn't accepting new apps (which is why i'd deleted the links)

    B. Has anyone actually got the card - if so what method was used to apply for it with?

I applied through the online link for the 18 month card last week, with the we will let you know answer, in the meantime Tuesday I received through the post an offer to have one on their platingnum cards with a 9 month period, then yesterday received the letter telling me I'd been declined for the 18 month card re credit details ( this now seems standard) but could have the 6 month deal with a 5k limit! Think I will give them a miss!

    Hi Martin,

My wife and I both applied via the online link. My wife applied on the day it was posted online and received the 6 month offer instead yesterday. I applied on the "alternative" link the day after and await my letter!

Do you think that Capital 1 are pulling a fast one here? I refuse to believe that so many on here are not deemed suitable for the 18 month deal yet are fine for 6 months?
  • Seems I'm a member of the offered-6-months-not-the-18-months-applied-for-club too!

I applied online for the 18 months and got the will contact you in 10-14 days message.

I'm just as confused and disappointed as everyone else, as I have a perfect credit history, last applied for a mbna credit card 10 months ago and they offered me 7K for 12 months no problem.

I also have a capital one leaflet for 0% for 15months - am I likely to get a different decision if I refuse the current 6 months one and then apply for the 15 months one in a couple of months time when things have died down?

Still no offer in todays post.

Can apply for another card through a different company at the same time as this one is going through ? As it looks like i'm only going to be offered 6 months.
Although this isn't a problem, i don't want to do business with Capital One if they are false advertising.

My husband applied through the promotional link for the 18 month Mastercard and he got a letter this morning saying he was accepted. No credit limit stated though. So he'll have to give them a ring to see if the credit limit is worth going ahead with.
