I applied for the 18 month 0% deal, and got the 14 day decision thing.

The credit agreement arrived this morning, guess what?

unfortunately,i did not qualify for the deal i wanted,BUT i can have a 6 month 0% deal.

So,as they have already done the credit check, should i take advantage of the offer?

    I forgot to mention!

I only cancelled my old account with them less than 4 weeks ago.

Last time Capital One did an offer I had the same. I was only offered 6 months and, like you, thought I may as well go ahead and get the card anyway. Unfortunately they don't tell you what your credit limit will be until it arrives, and they gave me a pathetic £1000. I phoned up and canceled within minutes of it coming through the letterbox.

No idea what they objected to but I took it as a sign I had been applying too quickly for stoozing cards and am currently taking a few months break before applying for any more.

I suggest you try phoning them and seeing if you can find what credit limit they will give you, but I suspect anybody who is only given 6 months will get a very poor one.

I was offered the same deal carl  with a recommendation that I get a copy of information about myself from a Credit Reference Agency.

It makes no sense to me at all. I'm in dispute with one company - World Books, but apart from that I can't see what's wrong with my credit rating (but I haven't looked yet).

Does anyone know if it's because I've applied for a couple of other credit cards, received them, but not used them?

I'm amused by it all, and although I shouldn't have done it, I only applied to see if I could actually get one. I didn't even want one.

    Any suggestions anyone?

Could be that you do have too many credit cards, was a problem for me in the past.

I'd better get writing a few letters then? I'm really baffled by it all to be honest.

That'll teach me a lesson or two won't it? ;)

I'd be annoyed if it wasn't so funny, but I suppose I'd better do one of those checks and get it sorted.

    Thanks. :)

They did advise me to contact a CRA,but i had already done so in the last 6 weeks, just to see what it was like,it looked perfect to me,i even had a 506 credit rating with Zopa.

The only thing i HAVE been doing,is opening savings and bank accounts (A&L),and cancelling !!! 60k worth of old unused credit cards.

I don't think i can be bothered to send the credit agreement back.

Is that what you're meant to do? Send the credit agreement back?

Thanks carl. Sometimes the small print's that small I can't see it.

I'd better do just that then.

And not apply for credit cards I don't really want. ;)
  • Got a letter this morning, no 18 month deal but ive been prequalified for the 6 month 0% deal on purchases with a credit limit of £400(4 hundred), all i need do is send back the credit agreement.
