  • Hi

I got the 6 month offer through today also after applying for the 18 month offer

the guy on the phone today told me "there isnt such an offer available"

I politely told him to get a life . why are capital 1 putting out those promotional leaflets then ? , "what leaflet , there is no such leaflet , he claimed

anyway I am appealing as we have a perfect credit record and an excellent score with experian and equifax

I believe they put this offer out under false pretences , knowing that thousands would apply and most would in stead take up the 6 month offer given

I have binned the offer and told them Im not accepting anything less than the offer they are promoting

If they dont reverse the decision on the offer I wont ever use capital 1 again

I am considering the same action. What information would we need to put in an appeal? My wife is a little concerned that appealling could somehome harm our credit rating too.....they can't do anything to that I am sure?
  • Grrrr. They turned me down for the 18 month 0% BT card today, and offered me a 6 month 0% rate instead, with a regular APR of about 17%. Odd, because I used to have a Capital One Circle Card with a £7k limit (which I paid off on time in full each month) AND I got a letter asking me to apply for the (invitation only) Platinum Amex Charge Card in the same post!

All my other cards are up to date, I'm on the electoral register, been at my current address for over eight years and been with the same employer for over 11 years.

I'm going to appeal to Capital One and send them copies of my bank statements, payslips, passport, mortgage statement, etc and point all this out. Let's see what happens!

Has anyone been approved for the 15-month or 18-month deal?

P.S. By the way.. the Platinum Amex Charge Card has an annual fee of £275. I don't think I'll bother with that one...!

I got the 6 month, upto 5K offer today as well.

I went for the 12month purchase card.

I just had a look through my records and cancelled my old Cap1 card in November 04. 5 Months without a Cap1 card not good enough.

Shreaded the paperwork, better deals elsewhere.

Better keep my MBNA/Abbey card for now, was going to get rid of that as well if I got this new card.

Sounds like a bit of a Capital One con to me from seeing these other replies or they are unhappy the MSE's would be the only ones applying after Martins forum message.

has anyone actually got the 18 month card?

I'm not sure but on the original thread (which I can't find) I thought someone was accepted straight away.

I'm still not sure what to do with my offer of 5k lol, but I didn't apply for the first offer that was mentioned. Makes me wonder if I'd have applied for that, been turned down, if that would have looked just as bad ;)

Does anyone know where the original link was? I thought it was in Grabbit but I might be wrong.

But did they actually get the 18month card?? Someone posted in this thread that they were told on the phone they had been accepted for the 18month, but got the 6month card offered instead when their agreement came through.

This Link is for the original Cap One thread started in Feb. Only one MSE'er has confirmed that he got the 18 month 0% interest rate so far HERE. Maybe tomorrow there will be lots more! But I doubt it somehow.

    Thanks gremlin.

Sorry JasonW but I thought Martin had actually posted it in Grabbit last week. Maybe someone resurrected another posting?
