A few members of my family received a letter of acceptance including the credit card agreement for signing. They signed and sent this off and then a few days later they received a rejection letter stating that their credit rating was too low and to contact experian. This is clearly a standard letter as their credit ratings should be very good. One family member phoned up only to be passed onto an automated message repeating (very fast) what was in the letter.
Has anyone had a similar experience and actually managed to appeal or find out what really is going on? I wonder whether the fact that there were too many applications from the same address that caused some suspisions.0 -

After downloading and reading your credit report, phone Experian and ask for personal advice.
The advisor will look through your report, find and any problems and let you know. Based on the discussion you have with them you can decide whether to appeal or not.
Remember to cancel your subscription before the 30-day trial period expire.

I was declined for this card so I have just used the template on here to see if it can be over turned. I have included ID and statements and proof my limits are rising and I only have one default showing on experian which is satisfied. Don't want to hold my breathe but this year so much bad stuff has dropped off that its worth a go! Especially as they invited me to apply via a letter........got nothing to loose.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

You may have an axe to grind with Barclays but that is not a negative for the rest of us
A lot of people have a pretty bad experience when Egg was sold to Barclays and many people cancelled their cards and won't use them again. I personally found them awful but that's not imnportant, what's important is that LOTS of people found them to be awful.
Good luck.
Worth also mentioning that you have to pay the fee in year 2 to get year 1's cashback. Many cards are the same in that if you cancel in year 1 your forfeit cashback.
I'm not just doing this to pull out the negatives, but anyone tarting and wanting the benefits from year 1 shoudl be aware that they will need to pay the £24 fee at the start of year 2 and should factor that in. That doesn't make it a bad deal but it should be factored into the calucaltions.0 -
Just tidying a huge backlog of paperwork. With my September aqua card statement, there was a notice of change of T&C from Nov 26th. One item was about changing the charges for money transfers - they're now going to be treated as purchases rather than cash transations, so no fee, and eligible an interest-free period. Says they'll be updating conditions 10 & 11 - are full T&C available from web site ?
Stupid question : What's a money transfer ? Is it what Martin calls a super-balance transfer (move money to a current account), or something else ? And if it is, what would be process to do the transfer ?0 -

I think the refusal is very unlikely to do with bad credit ratings and this is just a stanadard letter. Of course I can only be certain by getting the Experian report...
What I was more interested in was whether other people had been first accepted by letter but then later refused. Since the same thing happened to a number of family members something odd is going on as if it was the credit rating then they should never have sent the acceptance letter in the first place.0 -
Do you know how long it takes for my aqua credit card to appear among the "credit agreement" in the Equifax credit report?0

I've just viewed my online statement and I have figures that don't add up.
My credit limit is £500 and when I paid what I owed last week my available to spend amount was back to £500. Since Friday I've used my card several times and spent the following:
£37.61
£21.94
£33.01
£36.92
£43.63
My available to spend amount now says £357.88 which means they've added up my spending to £142.12
I know it takes a while for every transaction to go through but no matter which combination of amounts I add up, none of the totals comes to £142.12 (unless I've done my maths wrong).
This is the third time something like this has happened and although it does usually work itself out after a few days (so I'm not worried about it, just curious) I was wondering if this happens to anyone else or whether it's just me. Can anyone explain why?0 -

This happened to me since day one, transaction one. I have no (sound) explanation for it. As I approached my limit, this stopped happening.
What I think happens is what I've said before in this thread: Aqua bolted a few services together without thinking too much, and different bits of software get out of sync. Everything they do (including responding to a secure message I sent them by telling me to call their landline phone number if I want a website-related issue solved) suggests I may be right.
Adding to the "stapled CC solution" theory is the fact that they're supposed to take a DD payment from me tomorrow, but there's nothing pending.0 -
