Thankfully, I have also received my cashback cheque. However, when I took it to my bank for depositing, the cashier told me that the serial number of the cheque was not getting accepted, and so they couldn't accept the cheque. Has this happened to anyone else?
That happened to a lot of people with the first round of cheques. A second round was send out and these shouldn't have the problem. How many digits did your serial number have?

I had complained to AQUA many times but it was only when I used the word ombudsman that they offered the £20 payment.

Making whoever you are complaining to aware that you know how to and are serious about complaining about them if it is not resolved is indeed a very good idea (although it's sad this is necessary). I'm happy aqua gave you extra money.

But, my objection would be that boobbby contacted the ombudsman when it wasn't necessary. That just wasted their time - and if we all complained directly to the ombudsman it's likely the system, and our direct access to the ombudsman might be harmed.

I received a letter from Aqua dated the 1st November 2013 informing me that my credit card was being withdrawn on the 22nd January and I would receive a cheque in approximately 2 weeks after that date with my balance. On the 12th February 2014 I received another letter from Aqua pointing out that I would receive my cashback plus my credit balance making a total of nearly £300 on the week commencing the 17th February. In the middle of March (21st) I contacted the ombudsman but in the eyes of aleph_0 this was too soon so how long should I have waited?

The serial number consists of 7+2+4+8 = 21 digits altogether. The number on the back side of the cheque, which I assume is the sequence number is 009068, so it's probably one of the early cheques. After looking at the related threads, it seems I am one of those unlucky ones with an invalid cheque. I guess I'll be phoning Aqua unless I receive a new cheque in a few days. Thanks :)

Received my cheque last Wednesday, was deposited on the Thursday using a Cheque deposit machine.

Cleared as available funds on Saturday.

Aqua may have taken an age, but hey. Free money :money:

Mine arrived as well. For the full amount, more than £100. If I only knew earlier they were going to pay more than £100...

I got mine on Thursday and it was a smidge over a ton as well. I was feeling a bit smug until I read this. Perhaps you're right and I didn't need to stop at that point.

It was good while it lasted. I'm not sure what I'll move to now but will have a look over what other people have shifted to.

    Thanks everyone.

Are there any other Aqua former customers out there who still haven't received their cashback cheques?

I think you should have got your complaint in with Aqua whenever you wanted, and then if you reached a deadlock letter, or 8 weeks have passed without it being resolved, then go to the ombudsman.

I understood from your initial post that you went straight to the ombudsman, sorry, I must have misunderstood. Whilst aqua have been rubbish, I still think it's best to work the system, get your dated complaint in, and then go to the ombudsman 8 weeks later when they're able to act (at which point, aqua would have to pay for the complaint, I believe).

After noticing that people received their cheque on Friday but I've not received one, I called aqua card and a guy told me i will definitely receive my cheque on Monday. No surprise today that I still do not receive it so call them again and i am really angry this time. A guy put me on hold and talked to his manager and then told me they were trying to send all the cheque last week but because their franking machine can't handle so many cheque, they send all the cheque today. I am not sure this is gonna be another lie but will wait and see on Thursday. The guy also put a complain note for me but I do not see it may help me to get my mobile bill covered or speed up the delivery of the cheque.
