To be fair, Tesco Bank sent me a statement for my closed credit card about a month after I closed it, showing the full credit limit and absolutely no indication that the account was closed. It was just like a normal statement. I only knew the account was closed because it showed as "settled" on Experian.
(Incidentally, Experian still shows my Aqua card as being active).

No cheque or bank credit yet.

I sent a written complaint on Friday and have received a written response today - I think they tried to call me yesterday.

Letter says they are "now gathering information and documentation relevant to your complaint"

I'm not sure what information and documentation they require or how long it will take.
I simply said that according to my last statement, they credited the cashback due end of last month and then zero'd the account early this month claiming to have refunded me.

So where is my refund?

They say they will reply further asap, but in any event within 8 weeks.

Letter does go on to say "should you wish to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, they will not be in a position to deal with it until the eight week period has passed, or until you have received a final response from us, whichever takes place earlier"

I never even mentioned the FOS in my letter of complaint, so it looks like they are going to take it all the way

No refund of my credit balance either. I sent them a message a week ago, with no response as yet. I'm off on holiday on Sunday for a week, so if there is no sign of it when I get back, I'm going to write them a 'where is my money please' letter, which will set the 8 week FOS timelimit in motion.

Cheque dated 25 March 2014 ... and expires 31 August 2014

Cheque has 6 digit cheque number, 6 digit sort code, and 8 digit account number

Great news that the cheques have started to arrive. Perhaps the 'last batch' was all of them. I'll look out for mine tonight.
