I and my wife received the closure letters and opted to retain the account on the new terms, OK only 0.5% cashbach now, but it's payable on foreign transactions and they are one of the few cards that currently don't load foreign transactions either, so I'm keeping the accounts for that reason. There were issues with the final cashback allocated when the 3% offer expired on Jan 22nd, but I e-mailed through the account itself and got "goodwill" adjustments paid straight onto the card, and I'll wait for the cashback to be paid into the account on the anniversary. Generally we've found customer service OK and they play fair. I can't see why we wouldn't keep the accounts going.

For my part if I have not been paid by the end of March I will be sending them a 'letter before action' to see if that will focus their minds. It won't cost me anything and will be the first step to possible small claims action.

(And before the usual suspects start up, yes, it is worth it.)

Well, it'll cost you 50p plus a piece of paper and ink!

I've been tempted at times to start formal conplaints in the hope of speeding things up (though I'm pessimistic about that) or simply to waste their time due to the absolute shambles it seems to be.

Received my cashback cheque on Saturday 15th March, posted it to Coventry BS (current account), on Monday 17th March, have just checked online and it has been credited today, 20th March.

Also phoned the Coventry and asked was there any problems but could only get, "as long as the money is in the account it will be cleared for withdrawal 28th March".

So not rejected, will just have to see if it clears OK.

Couldn't wait anymore and called them. According to aqua, everyone will receive their cheques by the end of March and all banks now are accepting their cheques, except Halifax ( who would have their account at Halifax anyway)

I paid my cheque into the Halifax on Monday, they had three goes at trying to process it without success, eventually they did it manually. It will interesting to see if it actually clears.
  • Still waiting for my cheque! hopefully will arrive at some point!

OK, but in my case, my available spend has gone from £0 to £1,000 in a matter of days.

Yes it is a little curious, but I woulnd't worry about it too much.
We know they are a shambles and if your card has been stopped then it shouldn't be possible for anyone to put transactions on it.

Hello everyone. I'm a bit slow to this particular party but have grown concerned that Aqua haven't posted my cheque yet (well, I' haven't received it yet, at least). My account has the Transaction date of 4th March and Applied date of 11th. I'll give them until a fortnight from this applied date and then call them. I think they told me previously that it should be by the end of this month...

In any case, you can add a +1 to the list of people yet to get their £100 cheque.

Letter from Aqua today, turns out it's the statement from 16th March, but no cheque.

My statement says the "credit balance refund", as they call it, was applied on 4th March.

I don't understand how they can process statements every month without fail but can't organise a cheque......

Different process to go through? The statement process has been perfected (not much to fail if you don't change it) and it is probably handled by somebody else anyway, and they just submit a new template if they want to change the way it looks.

Cheques? Might as well have dumped a CSV from their accounting department, copy/pasted some details for the cheques (serial number, account number, sort code, people's names and addresses) and sent them to the lowest bidder without checking - they only need to do it once, right?

There seems to be a bit more too it than that, though.

Interrelated things are happening at at different time for different people (and never when they say they will).

For example, I kept checking my on line details. There was an amount owed when the card was withdrawn and I paid that. The amount owed said zero and the available credit said £800.

Then the available credit went to zero.

About four weeks ago the amount became £100ish (cashback figure) in credit. Available credit still zero.

A couple of weeks later the amount field returned to zero and I assumed that meant my cheque had been processed. Available credit still zero.

Last week my available credit went back to £800.

They really are a complete and utter shambles.
