Anyone else continuing with their card? Is there any e-mail address you can contact them or do you have to phone and suffer the endless menus and cost!

I continued with my card. They haven't eaten my cashback - just used the wrong rate for a few days, because they started the 0.5% earlier than they said they would.

I didn't call them. I sent them an online message from their account administration website. They always reply by letter to that one, so it takes a few days.

    Well that's simply not true.

You stopped being allowed to make purchases on the account on 22 January. No payment was required on the account until you received your next statement, and arrived at your next payment date. Exactly the same as usual over the last however many months.

The cashback is on its way to you by cheque.

    Just have some patience.

Most other people don't seem to have felt the need to phone them up so many times or get so worked up.

I think you are missing my point. I am generally a patient person and would have not felt the need to call had they not made incorrect statements in the first place.

In addition to this, my account was actually £1 in credit and this is another reason I had to check. In case this £1 would prevent the account being closed, therefore stopping the cheque. I was told each time my account was closed and a cheque would be with me within a week. So each time I have called has been a week after that particular 'promise' date. If they told the truth in the first place, I would have had no need to question anything.

My anniversary date was two weeks ago so I consider my cashback to be late.

Not that I'm bothered as long as I get it in the next week or two.

What exactly would you be complaining about?
I've had my cashback thankyou (not check but reduced balance) so I'm not going to complain, but they have been an absolute shambles in the information they have provided over the phone and in the information they sent out.
I don't know why you are being an apologist for them.
You get a differnt story every time you ring.

There leaflet was confusing to ordinary account holders regarding the date.
How are account holders meant to know exactly when the company will close account internally. We can't possibly know hence it's confusing to refer to account closure.

I don't have my knickers in a knot :-) but I do like to keep track of financial things so I can understand why people want to keep a record of this and chase it up.

Why should they have confidence or extra patience?
Why should they allow ludicrous timescales to put something in the post when that very old fashioned method was the choice of the company.
Ok - they are free to choose how to pay but it reminds me of the poll tax where people went to extreme measures like writing on underpants or paying in 1p - it's almost that ridiculous.

Not sure why anyone wants to be an apologist for this shower.
But happy I put my account in debit and don't have to wait :-))
The cashback is on its way to you by cheque.
    Are you personally guarnateeing this?
I suspect not, therefore there are risks of all sorts of things like lost post.
Not highly likely and won't keep me awake at night, but please don't give people promises that you can't guarantee to keep.

I'm not an apologist for Aqua, but to be honest their inability to give an accurate date for sending out my free money is not something I'm bothered about - provided it does turn up, and I have no cause to doubt that it will.

I've used Quidco, so I'm used to waiting many months for promised cashback to materialise :rotfl:

There are more important things to get worked-up about that actually matter for me.

wrt getting a cashback cheque I agree with you.

However wrt serious matters like - long term section 75 protection, financial fraud, identity fraud, data protection etc. I think it's entirely valid to have strong concerns about this companies customer service and competancy.
I chose to use a different card for section 75 on my solar panels (I want 25 year cover).

    This is exactly my point.

I'm not being an apologist for Aqua. I know they are a shambles. But you can't do anything about it, can you? No point getting worked up. There's no reason to doubt the cashback will arrive at some point.

Yes, I know the customer service is shocking. That's why I don't bother to phone them up every five minutes asking when my cashback will be paid.

There are bigger things to get worked up about.

Do you know if section 75 would trump the statute of limitation of liability, I don't know and wondered if you'd looked into this?

Well I don't have a clue what is happening to my cashback ATM as I haven't been able to log in to my account at all this week.

I wonder if that means that it has all been closed down and a cheque is really in the post.:rotfl:

    But they went on ...

The account is now closed as I did not respond to their earlier communications inviting me to apply for a new rewards account - the one that only gives 0.5% cashback. They said they could see there was a credit balance on the account (That's because they have added cashback, etc since I settled their last bill)

So they said they would send that to me today, via bank transfer - they just needed my bank details (sort code & account number).

Now waiting to see if anything arrives. I'm not holding my breath though.

Just checked my online account again.

Like others have found, they have taken the account back to zero balance by way of a CREDIT BALANCE REFUND applied on Tuesday after I made the above post.

But still no sign of the money in my bank account (nor any cheque received) :(

Interestingly my online account still has a credit limit and hence an available to spend amount :rotfl:
