Hi all. Not read the whole thread so sorry if already answered. Just wondering when Aqua start the process that results in the card being marked as 'settled' on credit reports?

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll do it with their usual efficiency!

I see they have changed the 'deadline' due to 'low uptake'. I think I would have guessed the latter without having to try it out.
Where did you see the change in the 'deadline'?

Not necessarily. Under the old rules, the cashback *paid* each year was rounded down to the nearest £5, but the difference was carried forward to the next statement. As the account is now being closed, I would expect the full cashback amount earned to be paid.

    You're right!

I never noticed that. I thought it was rounded down to the nearest £5 boundary and the rest was lost. But I just checked my statement and it did roll over the remainder.

Not sure what all the fuss was about originally then given the money was not actually lost.

Won't get a final statement for another two weeks, wouldn't expect anything since then.

Well they said (in the leaflet) that they'd do it about 2 weeks after closure (22nd Jan), so I don't see why we shouldn't expect it in that timescale.

I have a £100 debit balance as I don't think they'll be efficient in sending out the cheques.

I wouldn't want a cheque anyway, I'd much prefer they just take £100 less than the final balance when they take the final direct debit.

I agree, but for some people it might not be that easy.
Let's say your statement was on 22nd Jan (which logically is about 1/31st of account holders).
It's possible that you have to pay the full amount on that statement to avoid interest, didn't get to spend on the next statement as card was closed and don't get the cashback before your payment is due.

You sound like you've had good timing, but it won't work out as well for everyone.
Remember we all have different statement dates.

I'm sure it will all work out in the end. I just think some people who appear to think that ten of thousands of cheques will be generated instantaniously are going to be dissapointed in the timescale.

I haven't taken up the offer of the new card as I took out the Luma offer instead. I was told by Aqua when I rang to ask, that I won't get my cashback cheque until the anniversary of when the account was originally opened, which for me was October, so I have to wait until then to get the £11 odd pounds that I'm due.

That contradicts their leaflet (did you get one).
Those who've closed the accounts should get the cashback 2 weeks after closure (about now).
