Why didn't you use your 123 for the rail ticket (3% cashback)?

Is that on all train tickets? I wasn't thinking. Didn't used to go on the train much so never used it for that before.

    Just a quick question peeps,
I paid for a hair straightner on Tuesday from john lewis for £79 they agreed to knock £10 off the price but I had to pay the full £79 and then get £10 refunded back to the card. I used this aqua card but now that they have closed it how will the money go back onto the account?

Also if I do get a refund for other items I have bought previously and the retailer needs to refund back onto the card, how will this be possible?

    Thanks

    Yes.
Transactions can still go through the account despite the fact that there is no card.
Imagine a retailer finds till roll down the back of the sofa (or electronic equivalent), those transactions can still go through (positive or negative) and you are still obliged to pay for them.

You'll get a cheque or bank transfer or if it's a negative amount you'll get a statement which you'll need to pay.

    Why? Have you no shame?

Ha! Shame! They didn't have any shame when they declined a payment for me some time last year because their computers showed 0 everywhere (0 balance, 0 limit, 0 available to spend, blank online statement).

Anyway, I just used my card and it went through without a hitch. Excepting statements, I received absolutely no communications from Aqua regarding my account since I sent my application in. I guess it was approved.
  • My wife's card was meant to end as she never returned the form to continue using it.i used it at 4pm today and it's still working, strange
  • I reckon it's still working, but under the new regime of 0.50% cashback.

Better spend another £34 then quick smart or you'll only get £95 cashback.
Not necessarily. Under the old rules, the cashback *paid* each year was rounded down to the nearest £5, but the difference was carried forward to the next statement. As the account is now being closed, I would expect the full cashback amount earned to be paid.

Hi all. Not read the whole thread so sorry if already answered. Just wondering when Aqua start the process that results in the card being marked as 'settled' on credit reports? Is it as of the 22nd or as of when our account is paid off and shows a zero balance? I assume the latter as it is possible that people may not repay in full.

My next statement date is mid February, which will be for the last few transactions that missed my statement 8 days ago, so final payment looks like it will be in March.

I would agree with you. Account closed on 22nd Jan, but it's not settled until you've paid the balance.

I'm in the same boat. My purchases on 21st Jan will go on the statement of 15th February and presumably be paid via direct debit on 2nd March. The account will be marked as settled after that.
