I could be wrong, but in 2 months time I think you'll be wishing you "wasted" that cashback.
I prefer not to waste my time waiting for the cheque, calling them up when it doesn't arrive, travelling to the bank, fighting the queues, waiting for it to clear etc.
Everyday that goes by with no cashback I feel a little bit more right about how long this is actually going to take.
I don't envisage still waiting for the cash back in 2 months time personally. But if I am then so be it, as I said before it's not like I'll be relying on that £100 to eat. And if the cash back doesn't arrive today or on Monday then I would have been waiting for the cheque anyway as my statement date is the 10th.
As for fighting queues at the bank, it's 2014! Pop to the cash point that I drive past nearly every day and pay it in through that at my own convenience.0 -
We understand it's convenient for you.
It's not the same for everyone for various reasons.
People's circumstances and preferences vary.
You language - such as "waste" puts a value judgement on this action which is not valid for everyone.
Some people are homebound or might work abroad or even just too busy to get to the bank or might not be able to leave their child.
It doesn't bother me how other people wish to collect their cashback, but your language is unempathetic and judgmental to anyone who has different circumstances or preferences to yourself.0 -

I'm not talking about anyone else though, I'm talking about my circumstances! I'm saying that I didn't want to waste my opportunity for cashback on the £100 and that it is convenient for me to pay the cheque in.
I'm not judging anyone, I know that it's different for different people and have not once suggested what anyone else should do.0 -
but are your comments not equally unempathetic and judgmental of the person who has posted their opinions which are different to yours.
Well clearly I didn't think my own comments fell into the bracket and I'm sorry if they came across that way.
I am certainly empathetic to the disabled, carers, parents, busy people, travellers, those who live in the stix, people without a car or people (like me) with control freak tendancies who simply don't want to wait.
I don't think I've used judgemental words like "waste" which are a value judgement, rather than "cost" which is a fact.
I don't have any issue with anyone having different opinions or doing different things.
I hope we all get our cashback soon.0 -

.
But it wasn't judgemental at all because I was talking about my own situation! In my situation the cheque option should be virtually hassle free so not getting the cashback on the £100 spend would have been a waste.
The fact that you've even argued this point is judgemental in itself, you are telling me what I should and shouldn't be saying (even though I wasn't saying what you are implying in the first place!).0 -
Word of warning, I did has I always do and paid the balance in full by faster payment.
Never had a problem before, however, today they also collected the direct debit in full.
Just a quick question: did you make your FP or did it hit your statement within two days prior to the DD being taken by any chance? DDs start 2 days before the day of collection (it works like the cheque clearing system does in this respect) and cannot be recalled once in motion.0 -
The amount of threads on this forum that just end up being a bickering contest is ridiculous.0

First time I've used this forum but I'm so angry I felt I had to try and find out if other people are in the same situation.
Im with Aqua and had a rewards card. I chose not to get the new card with 0.5% as Im going to try and find a better deal. I had my last statement on 17th jan and has 40 quid oweing, I have earnt £70 in cash back and the letter sent in November to advise of the account closure had a leaflet to supposedly answer and questions and it said 'if you choose not to transfer your account and your account is closed, any cashback you've earned so far this anniversary year will be paid into your account approx 2 weeks after closure. If this payment moves your account into credit, the difference will be paid to you by cheque.'
Ive had a direct debit set up throughout having my account to pay it off in full on the last day of the payment being due and as far as I was concerned it would be paid off by direct debit as per usual. None of the literature sent has said I had to anything different and so I assumed it would all be taken care of and I would get a cheque sometime for my cashback. I had an automated message yesterday to say I was overdue payment so I immediately phoned the number quoted and got through to the 'collections' team. I tried explaining all this to the bloke and that even if my DD wasnt taken then surely atleast the cashback would be used to pay off the balance as per what the leaflet advised! He said he couldnt see any cash back and need to speak to the rewards card team and gave me their number. I checked the number with him then he had the cheek to ask if I was going to make a payment today! I then said no! - It should have been taken care of and Im going to speak to the rewards card team and get to the bottom of this and he advised me theres a £12 something late payment fee. I ended our conversation then tried to call the rewards team - the number didn't work - didn't even ring. I tried it once more then rang the number on the back of my card for the customer care team and had to go through the whole stupid explanation again and once again she said I need to speak to the rewards team I triple checked the number with her and it still wont work.
Has anyone had trouble like this with Aqua??? Im sooo angry!0
