Yes, it is. Halifax Clarity MasterCard is the only one worth having. Others as you say, have the normal ripoff charges for foreign use.
You also get cashback with Clarity Mastercard, but unlike Aqua and CapitalOne, it is subject to minimum usage.

For clarity (pun intended), you only get cashback with the Halifax Clarity Rewards variant of the card, for which you also need a Halifax Reward current account, and the reward is only £5, as long as you spend at least £300 per month.

Hope someone knows the answer -

I have a direct debit set up and the statement balance is due to be taken by the DD. If I make a faster payment for the amount due, will the DD still be taken?

I know some credit card companies will alter the direct debit by the amount you have paid, while some will take the DD as set regardless...

The DD will be cancelled if you pay it off long before the DD is due to be taken. The cut-off is something like 4 days.

They'll take the statemented amount regardless of any other payment's you've made.

For Aqua this is plainly wrong.

I think you mean pay it off before the statement is generated. It doesn't matter what you pay off afterwards - the DD is always taken.

I've had my Aquacard for a couple of months with their minimum limit of £250... has anyone ever applied for an increase in limit this soon and had it approved? I'm not looking for loads but £500/£1000 would really help out with my overseas honeymoon this year... £250 won't even cover the 'hold' the hotel will want to put on the card upon check-in!

After applying four times online and phoning twice, I got mine increased from £500 to £650. But that was after using the card for five months.

Their standard offer is a rise form £250 to £350 after 6 months, then another review after 4 more months. I don't know if badgering them will increase that or make it happen sooner.

Why not use another credit card for the hold that the hotel require? The funds are not actually taken but just blocked, so there are no charges to pay when the funds are released. Reserving amounts on the Aqua card doesn't give you any gain, and removes available credit for spending.

I've just had an increase about 2 weeks ago from £500 to £2000
They did need to do another credit check on me though.

Also can I say this card is awesome for cashback it trumps all other cards on market
