Thanks for your reply. How do I go about making a faster payment? Would I do this via the "Make a debit card payment" section on my aqua account page? It says to allow up to 3 working days for the payment to be made.

Do it from your bank to Aqua via FP. it will be with Aqua within 2 hours, doing it from Aqua site will take 3 days, maybe longer.

I don't thgink there is any 'upper limit' as such. Their website suggests an initial limit of £250 - £1600 (although I don't see anyone here having got offered anything other than £250 or £500 initially depending on status)

I was lucky and got the max initial credit limit of £1600. Not sure if they would increase it after 6 months, though I don't really need an increase.

well i didn't have to phone as the increase went through today which was sooner than i thought. its happend at a good time too as i was about to do a food shop and buy other things i'll be using this cc until i get to the 100 pound cashback. my only worry is that i was going to apply for a mainstream cc in the next few months i haven't had a credit search for over 6 months and very few over the past year. I don't need the new credit card but i wanted the transation from subprime to prime credit to be confirmed. so i may hold off until the summer.

Guys any idea on the following - I can't call either Aqua or Argos at the moment so thought I'd pick your brains in the meantime before I try tomorrow.
I 've been trying to place an order at Argos but already tried to pay three times (ca 3 hrs apart) and my card is being declined. I've paid off my last statement and I am well within the limit for the purchase.
What happens is that when I click on Pay, it reloads showing v. briefly part of a Mastercard authorisation page (you know the one where you have to enter character 3, 5 etc of your additional password and which I've never had to complete with Aqua) but the Mastercard page doesn't even manage to load - instead it shows Transaction in progress and then it says "Sorry we were unable to authorize your card."
I did check everything, the details , the billing address... Am a bit worried :(:(

This happened to me on three separate occasions before Christmas. It's a fraud prevention thing. On one occasion I got an automated call from aqua asking me to confirm the transaction. It was incredibly irritating as I was trying to buy an ipad mini and by the time it was all sorted the stores were out of stock! My guess is that you'll not be able to make the purchase until you've spoken to them. They told me it was a random thing and that I was just unlucky.

My paperwork arrived today. £500 limit.

If I have myself as primary card holder and my wife as secondary on my account can we then go and get a second card in my wifes name? I'm just thinking 1 card to pay for shopping and the other for fuel and we'll have 2 lots of £100 over the year.

That's what all people do here do double the £100 limit.

So to be clear - by putting a second person on the same account, they increase the limit on the account? Or each person/card has their own limit?

I was assuming one account = one limit, and if you actually wanted to get another 100 you would need to actually open another account in the other person's name?

No, this doesn't change anything. If the OH has their own card from the very start, there is no much point in making them a second cardholder - unless your are likely to exceed £100 on one account and to make less than £100 on the other.

Yes, that's correct. Some people just prefer to open another account when approaching £100 limit on the first one.
