I know its MSE but I find the whole Aqua Cashback a big waste of time IMHO and for a £100 a year I personally wouldn't miss it.

If that is your opinion then fair enough. But I don't understand why anyone would turn down a free £100 a year for very little effort and a relatively small amount of spending compared to most cashback cards.

It's been completely hassle free for us, we've not bought anything that we wouldn't have bought anyway and we are both nearly at our £100 limit with a few months to spare. Easy £200 in our pockets for nothing and hopefully the same again next year!

I thought lenders when accessing applications may go on other credit limits when working out applicants credit limits and wondered how negative it will be seeing this as the lender wouldn't know its an Aqua Cashback card.

But I do understand for those who are struggling that £100 is it worth if to them.
I have successfully applied for credit cards such as AMEX/BMI since getting an Aquacard.
Low credit limit of Aquacard certainly has not had any impact on my credit card limit set by them. In fact they were much higher than I like and had to ask them to to reduce it.

Applying for an Aqua card took me just a few minutes. Same as it would with any other card. That little time was time well spent.

On top of the £100 cashback, I also saved a lot of money in currency costs when traveling abroad. :)
Call me a Scrooge if you like but saving money has been fun :)

I just applied and was declined :'( I should have a good credit rating, I always pay in full each month. This would have done me perfectly as I probably wouldn't spend much more anyway.

You can write and appeal. There is a template here:

I think the template is probably a bit too thorough, but it's a useful guide as to what things to think about writing.

I've known people successfully appealing with Aqua before, and it doesn't take too much effort to do.
  • I'm bricking it a bit at the moment. I've accrued about £80 cashback on this card in 6 months but think I might have blown it this weekend.

My payment due date was the 11th of February
The last transaction prior to my statement was on the 23 of January
I made a payment of over £500 on the 25 of January
I then made another payment of about £160 on Saturday (so 2 days before my due date)

I might have talked myself out of worrying now because the payment on the 25th fell inside the payment window (a payment after the statement is generated is classed as a payment on account is it not?)

My concern was if the above isn't right, that the payment made on Saturday wouldn't hit my account in time (despite all my payments being made via Faster Payments, this one hasn't cleared yet - suspicious!!)

You do realise there is a rather large number of people between those who are "struggling" and those who don't care whether they get £100 or not?

And I hardly see how it could possibly be a waste of time. Using an Aqua card doesn't take any more time than using any other credit card...
  • I currently have 3 cashback cards on the go (Aqua until I hit the £250 monthly limit, MBNA Cashback for 1.5% off supermarkets, Amex cashback for 1.25% off everywhere else.) I expect to make about £250 this year, for doing essentially nothing.

You realise you wont make the maximum £100 cashback like that? If you made an extra payment when you are approaching your limit so that more is available to spend then you could spend a bit more on it, you'd only need around £30 a month extra to make the full cashback amount...

I have an Aqua card simply to replace the existing card I was using. Considering I would be using a CC anyway, it seems daft not to use one that gives me 3% cashback, so close to £100/year. I'm not making any more or less purchases than I would normally.

I got a card with a £250 limit from them. Very poor despite my having an excellent credit rating. I was told I could apply to increase it in 6 months and though I have tried to get them to do it sooner, they have been strict on the 6 months. I was even given a date. Today I was told that they were refusing to increase it as they 'don't like the way you've been managing the card'.
Since this is paying it off in full, sometimes more than once a month, I guess they don't want responsible savers at all. There have been times it was rejected because their rubbish 'only pay using Worldpay' method can take ages to clear with no notification that it hasn't cleared when you expected it to, so I guess they could be counting those against me. I wouldn't mind, but I've had my Bank of Scotland Credit card (who actually provide the card) for 15 years and they're always trying to get me to up the limit.
