  • My friend and I were shopping in Manchester a few years ago. We parked in a disabled bay and some old nutter ran at us hurling a torrent of noise!!!

After a while I managed to translate what he was trying to say and it was much the same as what happened to the OP.

My friend tried to explain to the chump that he was infact disabled, but to little avail.

I tried to explain that my friend lost a leg in Afghanistan though he would have none of that either.

He threatened to smash up the car!

It was only when my gallant friend removed his "New and improved leg" (his words) bravely held it aloft and began to chase (Hop) after the nutter did the matter dissolve.

As you can imagine this entertained the people of Manchester as its not often one gets to see such a comical farce.

Even a traffic warden found it funny...
This does not make him a person as he had watched the whole thing hiding in an alcove!

I think the accident statistics would be signficantly higher if blind people were allowed to park anywhere. Blind people shouldn't be parking cars at all.:rotfl:

People are entitled to look at a blue badge, which should be displayed whenever a person who is entitled to a badge is parked. Although I agree it is not appropriate to challenge someone, if I believed someone was abusing this system, I would simply take the details from the badge and report them to the Local Authority.

If people are genuinely entitled to a badge and are not abusing it or allowing their family and friends to use it inappropriately, they should not have any problems with this.

Complete rubbish the general public have no right to inspect someones blue badge.

There's nothing to stop them viewing it via the cars windscreen.

As said, you can see through the windscreen, just can't ask about the photo side. By all means report the ones that are being used out of date though, or look a bit 'iffy'.

Totally Rubbish, no person has the right to inspect anyone's blue badge outside of the police force or enforcement officers. And yes I have a objection to trigger happy people with no disability training reporting people they believe are being disingenuous about their disability. You could be putting undue stress on vulnerable people, for some it may push them over the edge.

Why should people have to justify their disabilities to joe blogs? Infact people who falsely report and cause problems for others by taking the details should be prosecuted for wasting police time.

Oh and if someone comes and gives you a mouth full simple solution as in nuisance calls, just walk away.

yes but when somebody comes up to you and them calls you a liar to your face ( bearing in mind he could see my disabilities as they stand out a lot ) then i think its un called for and this has still shaken me to this day. You say you wouldn't challenge anyone which is great but a lot of people will. these people believe they have the right to interrogate you just because you are in a disabled bay.

On that premise no benefit fraudsters or blue badge misusers would ever get caught.
