Its my parents house thats the problem, should really get my dad to enquire anyway as my mums about to have a double knee replacement and gets DLA. Honestly you turn up after 5 or at the weekend and its like road rage out the front, if you get a space youre too scared to even go to the shop cos you know it wont still be there after...
I dont mind parking on the lines as they start 2 houses up from my parents anyway and theres no road to cross, I think id almost become one of the smug ones turning up to a packed road with my own personal space free right outside.

Theres already maybe 4/5 disabled spaces marked out at various spots down the road, if I lived there and had to endure it day in, day out it would be the first thing I had done and I can understand why so many people do but I can imagine the situation would only get worse the more white boxes get painted

I agree that they are now difficult to get awarded, but not too difficult to get hold of!!

I know of three families that each have one Blue Badge between them.

The new BB design is very difficult to forge in that it's bar-coded and has anti-forging designs incorporated into it.

Eligibility has been tightened up with non-automatic eligibility now determined by local councils who may not be as keen to hand them out as they were before just on the say so of ones GP.

DS2 has one of the new ones, it's like a giant bank card!

My local asda has disabled bays in 3 areas, one is at the cash points where there is a waiting area for those who are using the cashpoints and a space for turning your car, then the disabled bays at the other side... hard to describe really, I admit it is the strangest set up, but it works fine.

Last week, I went to asda (I had parked elsewhere, its cool) and when walking past, a car was pulling into the turning point, suddenly this elderly guy pulled in, drove behind this car that was turning and stopped, he got out and started to yell at this woman who was turning her car (or trying, she was now blocked in) "wheres your blue badge?! wheres your blue badge?!". She was trying to say she wasn't parking, she had been at the cashpoint but he was having none of it. Eventually she rolled up the window and he tried to open her door, still yelling, which I admit made me laugh. Folk were telling her to call the police and finally a staff member came out and the guy decided to go park his car... in any one of the empty bays, there were no other cars there at all. Bloody numpty.

His wee wife was sitting in the car trying to hide her face.

    Disabled Bay Rage.

I've not had anyone actually say anything, I just get The Looks. But I can Look Back and I think I have a scary 'I've not slept in 2 years and have constant PMT so if you wanna go for it, bring it!' look about me.

I got the chance to use the 'You Don't look Stupid' line today whilst at Asda when some ignoramus piped up, 'You dn't look disabled', despite me having my walking stick with me.

The guy was simply perplexed and when he tried to talk next sounded like he was doing an impression of Albert Arkwright from Open All Hours,

    ' Bu, BuBu, BuBuBu, Bu'

    as he walked away.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

When my neighbour parked in a disabled space with her blue badge, she noticed the lady in the passenger seat of the parked car next to her staring at her.

She put up with it for a while but the lady was still staring.

Finally my neighbour said, "Have you got a problem?? Why do you keep staring at me?"

And the lady said "I'm not staring at you ...I'm blind!" My neighbour couldn't apologise enough...!

I think there is a misconception by many members of the public concerning blue badge parking. They can see the logo on the ground depicting a person in a wheelchair and naturally assume it is there for people with 'mobility' problems (which is understandable, why they need to be closer to the shops, in a wider parking space etc.) Perhaps that is what these should be exclusively for, as much as I sympathise with the blind lady mentioned above, as a stationary passenger (thank goodness she wasn't driving ..) why would she need to be parked in the disabled space?

All BB users are equal; but some are more equal than others

Maybe because it's less dangerous for her to be close to the shop entrance than navigating across a busy carpark.
