I had some old doddery git yesterday (armed with his clipboard) more or less run over to my car when I pulled into a disabled bay at Tesco and demanded to see my blue badge. I politely told him he had no authority to see my badge to which his reply was he was from 'Baywatch' and had every right to ask to see blue badges!!

There is a private parking company that goes by the name of "Minister Baywatch"

However, the Blue Badge scheme does not apply in private off-street car parks, so why you entertain anyone questioning you, I simply do not know?

It wouldn't bother me if someone wants to check on the validity of my blue badge, I've got nothing to hide. In fact having nosy parkers' like him around may act as a deterrent to those using 'grandma's' blue badge.

OP, there is a thread which is quite a few pages long about instances where we have all had 'confrontations' with people who disbelieve others should have Blue Badges. I did try a search for you, but I'm getting useless lol, hopefully someone can post it up here for you.

As for 'BayWatch', simple in my eyes. Are they wearing a parking warden uniform? If not, then they must be plain clothed police, so ask to see their police warrant card. It's what I'll be doing next time someone stops me and asks to see the photo.

OP..did you not simply tell him to fook off and mind his own business? Anyway, one can be disabled and not be in possession of a blue badge. I always park in disabled bays on private land even though i dont have a badge as i consider that i have a disability.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I'm sorry I cant think of a single reason for entering into a conversation about a car parking space.

I know I sort of just did.

LOL with being 50th and class as old. :D It happens to retired people all the time, in work even on a public transport where there are seats for disable people and a notice next to it saying give this seat up to a disabled person. You can see a young person sitter on that seat where there's clearly disabled older person standing and the person keeps doing texts on their phone so they do not have to look at the obviously retired older person standing. ;)

My bf and I have experienced similar encounters. He has CP and due to the severe flexion in his legs so can't walk very far at all (we're talking metres if that) the looks I get when we go anywhere whilst I get his wheelchair out are horrendous! I get that when I first step out of the car I don't look disabled (tottering around in my dresses and heels) but you'd think they'd understand when I get his day chair or his rugby chair out of the boot!
With all the nosey parkers it makes me wonder if how these people really are silly enough to not believe that in this day and age adaptations can't be made that allow disabled people to drive!

Our teenage daughter was with us whilst parking the other day, she was amazed at how many self appointed 'blue badge police' were watching. I told her more people were being questioned about their disability, she simply said 'tell them you have Tourettes, so f*** off'. :) Not perfect but sums up how it feels.
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

The person sitting texting could be just as disabled as the
    person standing, that's the point..

Just because they don't look disabled they could well be, how do you know the person sitting hasn't just had for example a heart transplant and just submitted their DLA and blue badge claims...

My next door neighbour had a stroke last year, he has a blue badge, he takes his dog for a walk twice a day he's in his 60's, he cuts my grass for me, i'm not capable and he offered...
I'm only 33 and he's far more mobile than I am but because of my age i'm not believed

I believe that it comes back on those that form judgement and as i've posted before, a lass at my kids school a member of staff stated 'I wasn't that disabled' to warrant needing to park my car as agreed in their disabled bay...
Weeks later this member of staff broke her leg in a way that needed pins & will not recover...
I'd just had a major op before she said this..

I would say to these idiots who judge 'perhaps you could get a blue badge for being brainless you are clearly also at a disadvantage' .
I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...
