OP, you really shouldn't let ignorant people like that upset you because if you do then they have won. Why do you even care what an idiot like that thinks?
I have been in a similar situation although not as bad as yours when I got out of the car at a B&Q car park after parking in a disabled space and ran to the shop. I could hear people behind me making nasty comments but they suddenly stopped when they saw me coming out of the shop with a wheelchair for my OH.
I really can't believe what happened to you and I hope it never happens again, but you need to remember that you mustn't take any notice of idiots like this and you must certainly not let them affect your life. You just have to ignore them as he is just one of 60 million people in this country, so why whould you even listen to what he has to say let alone let it affect you?0 -

I agree that they are now difficult to get awarded, but not too difficult to get hold of!!
I know of three families that each have one Blue Badge between them.
Sons, daughters, mum, dad and uncle Tom Cobley and all use them.
'I'm going to the bank - where's Nan's badge'?
Living very close to a holiday spot where parking is a premium in the summer, it is not unusual to see the son in one family pile all of his mates into his car (sometimes it's his Nan's Motability car) to spend a few hours on the beach!0 -

Wow, a sighting of the self-important kn*b-head!
Easily identified by purposeful movements and a single-minded determination to deny logic they're frequent visitors to blue-badge parking areas and are usually seen singly as their self-importance does not attract company.
Usually, they have to eat their words.

I have similar experiences, OP but with me it's more the dirty looks. I'm young and disabled. Disability does not discriminate based on age. It can affect anyone! I admit that it used to upset me (it still does to an extent. I hate being "on show" but I guess I am anyway being in a wheelchair).
What I find funny is when we get the dirty looks when pulling up in a disabled space and I put my BB on the dashboard, but then DH gets the wheelchair out of the car. Most people don't know where to look.I still get the odd one who will just snarl at me, but I think that says more about them as a person than me.

I just thought I would share my story with you all about a rather bizarre experience I had in Asda car park a few weeks ago which upset me greatly. I have osteogenisis imperfecta (brittle bones) as a result of this I have a very severe kyphosis scoliosis which causes my upper spine to stick out a lot. Anyway my dad was getting me out of the car whle my mum got the wheelchair out the boot and this man in his late 50sish marches up to me and says I am faking my disability and thres Nothing wrong with me . I am to young to be disabled and must have got my blue badge fraudulently
My dad pointed out my conditions to him (thy are very obvious ) and the man said I must have stuffed something up my back to cause the hump!! I then told him to feel it he did and walked off saying I was a useless scrounger !!! I was so pest by this my parents had to take me home I'm still pretty upset now. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing ?
You allowed a stranger to physically touch you :eek::eek:Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
