On that premise no benefit fraudsters or blue badge misusers would ever get caught.[/QUOTE]
And many people who are very ill are put under undue stress. Sorry but unless you are a qualified medical professional reporting people with sufficient long term evidence of a persons blue badge misuse, you should not even consider reporting people.
How many reports would be made to local authorities, due to a altercation in a car park for instance? where trigger happy people wanting to redress the balance, report people whom in the vast majority of cases are in genuine need.
If people want change lobby their mp's and local authorities for it. Don't cack-handedly think reporting people is going to change things it needs a more dynamic approach to abuse of Blue Badges.
We are now in a culture of assuming people are guilty, when the majority of people are not. Where we feel we are now all experts on disability just because we have one. Disability isn't always so apparent, disability is not always visible. Who is not to say that by making false and inaccurate reports to local authorities many are undermining the system, bogging down officials from really making a difference. So unless you have real evidence of a person abusing the blue badge scheme use a thing called common sense.
Its becoming a worrying trend that authorities are asking members of the public to report people, without any training in the field. Its a system open to abuse and misuse.0 -
Unfortunately, if you take public money you should be under public scrutiny.
I want to make sure the money I pay to the government is being spent appropriately.0 -
Could someone explain to me how one of the BB self appointed monitors can report someone they believe shouldn't be using a BB when they don't know who they are?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

So did you call them up and ask to see the books?
I want to know how the money I have paid the government is being spent on you.
When was the last time you used an NHS service and what was it for?
Have you used a public loo recently and how many sheets of paper did you use?0 -
People here really need to take a chill-pill, both those that have a blue badge and the numpty trolls that would like to see us all stripped of them.
The simple facts are thus :-
1) A disabled person may not 'look' or 'act' disabled (*1)
2) The blue badge holder is not necessarily the driver (*2)
3) Got nothing better to do with your life?
*1 It's a really bad idea to judge people based on what you see in their windscreen (the badge). Indeed I had a guy wanting to fight me because I had parked in a 'parent and toddler slot' the other day. I only did so because all of the disabled slots were taken. Shame he missed me being pushed back to the car in the wheelchair then hobble around on the one leg I have left....
*2 Blue badges are granted to parents of disabled children for good reason. Don't be so damned judgmental!
Regarding gaining the blue badge, I had to go and undertake a test (despite a whole leg amputation) so I'm pretty sure that the whole blue badge scene is getting tightened up.0 -
People are entitled to look at a blue badge, which should be displayed whenever a person who is entitled to a badge is parked. Although I agree it is not appropriate to challenge someone, if I believed someone was abusing this system, I would simply take the details from the badge and report them to the Local Authority.
If people are genuinely entitled to a badge and are not abusing it or allowing their family and friends to use it inappropriately, they should not have any problems with this. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0 -

Luckily for me, I put far more into the system than I take out, so I don't need to justify myself to you. I'm willing to bet that, judging by your attitude, you are a net drain on the system.0 -

Well I asked to see the blue badge of a guy sat smoking in a post office van parked in the last available space in the garden centre we visited today. He was really abusive - said he was there to make a collection. So I reported him. Hope he gets an official reprimand.0
