Thank goodness my strapless dress doesn't give me a uniboob like this!

I am quite surprised (and a little shocked) actually at some of the comments! I have never once looked at a bride in a strapless dress and gone wow, that looks awful, she has a uniboob, under arm boob etc....if the bride loves the dress you can clearly see that in her demeanour and that makes a lot of difference!

I am what Polish Spender might call 'fat' and SHOCK, I have a strapless dress , the only thing I was aware of when choosing is that I am quite broad and a straight across neck line didn't do much for me so I picked a dress with a slight sweetheart neck line and lot of detail. As it happens, I am having side straps put on the dress just to help cover some tattoos on my arms but they will be coming off in the evening. I don't recall having any boobage issues and I felt a million dollars in it, what the Daily Fail thinks about brides in strapless dresses is really NOT going to influence my choice.

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

I've been wondering what the fascination is with strapless dresses for a long while. I shall be hunting for one with straps when the time comes. No one likes brides with a back boob.

I have never seen a strapless dress that looked good on a bride. If you're fat, you shouldn't choose this style - you will spill out of it and showing your arms is probably not the best idea. If you're thin, you risk having a gaping hole over your chest. All in all, I don't get the appeal.

I actually agree with some of what you say, I'm fat, no nice way of saying it. Size 18 and 5'2 I have a Justin Alexander 8501, it has sleeves and the A line starts at my waist not my hips, my mum chose it. It suits my shape perfectly and even if I don't lose weight, it'll look great on me at the size I currently am.

I agree if your short, carry weight and big arms, i've never seen a boobtube style dress look amazing on any bride. Having said that I wouldn't say they look awful, just could have got something better.

My size 10 bridesmaids also won't be in boobtube styles either, but that's because I don't like the style anyway.

I have seen some lovely brides in strapless, there was one in particular on here that was just breathtaking but she was very slim.

As long as a bride feels amazing in her big day surely that's all that matters though!!

Well, everybody likes and suits different styles and I'm not going to tell a bride what she should be wearing. However, personally I agree that strapless styles are often unflattering and I find it intensely frustrating that the vast majority of bridal dresses are that style. I particularly hate that so many strapless styles are completely rigid and don't move with the woman's body - that makes it look like either her boobs are escaping or that she doesn't have any. I would love to see a greater variety of styles in the wedding shops.

I think some of these comments are awful. I HATE straps on me, and I'm a size 20/22 and my wedding dress was strapless. Every single person I spoke to at the wedding said how stunning I looked and how lovely my dress was. The lady who altered my dress made sure I wouldn't have fat spilling over the edges, yes I have back fat and you can see it on some pictures, but at the end of the day, its what the bride feels comfortable in, and you see that happiness in her face! I felt absolutley beautiful on the day, and not one person said otherwise.

My dress was strapless and I looked fabulous. So there...all you people saying you've never seen a bride in a strapless dress that looked good!

Good for you, Cathy, that you can look in a mirror and choose the style that might not be the most popular, but best for you!
I'm only size 8/10, but my arms are not the slimmest and I'm short. I had a dress with short sleeves, Empire line, which made me look taller and thinner.

But each to her own, I guess...
